I spent a lot of money a few years ago on a nice workstation-level machine to do image processing and scientific stuff. I got the Kaby Lake processor as it seemed like a good choice at the time. So now we have Windows 11 and my processor isn't on the list. Can't upgrade. Manipulative MS bastards must be in bed with the hardware people to sell more hardware.

There are ways around it.  I haven't tried them as I don't need to but others report it works:

Hey, that's great, thanks! I have TPM, though the hardware plug-in modules seem to be rare as hen's teeth. It's the processor list I needed to get around. Not sure when I'll give 11 a try, but I tend to be an early adopter.

The hack above is supposed to allow you to install it without TPM and/or with an unsupported CPU, hence the registry entry name.

My rule is NEVER upgrade windows. It always causes more trouble than it's worth - new versions  of Windows are for new machines only.
