Title: does flashpipe support canon 1dx
Post by: wayneg1035 on October 12, 2012, 08:02:33 PM
I imported some raw files with flashpipe and they developed funny.  Does flashpipe support 1dx conversion? If not is it planned soon?

Yes, Qimage supports 1DX Raw, but the screen snap shows JPGs.  What program are you using to view and develop the raw. That screen snap doesn't look like Qimage.

So could you explain your procedure ?
When you say IMPORTED some raw files, what does that mean, specifically?

Are you using the built in Flashpipe in Qimage, called, Flash Card Copy Move (FCCM)?
If you are using Flashpipe, what program is reading the raw files?

I don't think Flashpipe gets camera updates, but the 1DX is an old camera. It is likely that it is covered.

Flash pipe does a raw conversion of the cr2 files, when it develops them.  This is what I got in the develop folder, thats why they are jpg's.

Wayne,
I know that FP does a raw conversion. My confusion is centered around my recollection that the 1DX has been around a long while and was included in the raw conversion models a long while ago.
That's where I made my mistake. The 1DX seems to have just come out. According to the reviews, it's brand new. (I was thinking of a Nikon D1X)
It is already covered according to the published list! So the only remaining question is whether Flashpipe contains the coverage that is offered under Qimage. According to my Flashpipe Properties, it looks like the last install was over  2 and a half years ago.

Try the free Qimage Ultimate Demo offered at  http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage-u/downloads.htm
If that doesn't work,,,,,,

Any chance you could email one image Raw from the 1DX to me? You can use
https://www.wetransfer.com/

and send to
wathree.ssz@verizon.net

It's free....

Wayne,
What a terrific shot!   Absolutely amazing!
May I send it to Terry, a regular on here who also takes photos like this. He would enjoy seeing it.

As to the problem.
Now that I have the Raw image and I have both Qimage Ultimate and the Stand alone Flashpipe, it is obviously not covered in the Stand alone Flashpipe.
I get the same pink images that you get.
Then all I did was open the folder with the RAW and the pink JPG using Qimage, and there it was, perfectly developed.

So the answer is that the Flashpipe that is part of Qimage Ultimate gets updated with new cameras as often as possible, and has no problem with 1DX.

I see 200mm at F 2.8   What lens? It's a beauty.

I will send back the developed JPG and a screen snap of the raw image.
Thank you for cooperation.
Fred

Thanks for testing it out, I wonder if mike will update the stand alone FP.  I just renewed my ultimate, so Ill use that for now.

You can do anything you want with the photo,  it was a vacation shot from puerto rico last week.  I shot it with the first generation Canon 70-200 2.8L IS.  It's one of my favorite lenses.

I just sent you a TIF and a JPG of that shot. You should get notice to download in a minute or so.

Highly unlikely... It hasn't been touched in years.

Thanks, yes got it, a very interesting creature.
One photographic comment, just like I get from competition judges  ::) - did you deliberately use a large aperture to limit the depth of field? You had plenty of lee-way to use a smaller aperture with a shutter speed of 1/4096 second to get more of the body sharp. Also the top of the head was almost blown and detail lost, a touch less exposure would have helped. However the wonders of Qimage Ultimate made it possible to recover most of the detail.
I sent Fred my rendering of your image, perhaps he can forward on to you. You can then judge me against Fred  ;D

I looked at my jpeg embedded in the raw and the head is not blown out, but your right about the DOF I should have stopped the lens down.

I have done another version and sent to you where the recovery of highlights was more intensive which lowers overall contrast - like the embedded jpeg.
I used the QU editor on the raw image to increase contrast again.

Wayne,
I didn't mean to unleash the representative of the wrath of the gods on you.
I only thought, since Terry shoots a lot of insects with a macro lens, he would enjoy seeing your work.

Now I have to figure a way to locate the OFF switch... I know! I'll FEDEX an over night shipment of scones and whipped cream. I know Terry likes that.
