Hasselblad Raw files

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and would first of all like to congratulate everyone involved for such a great and educational site.
I found this by chance while upgrading Qimage and several hours later found what I think is a tremendous, time saving and simple program - Flashpipe -. This brings me to my question.
Hasselblad captures in 3Fr format which ( up until a recent Adobe camera raw ) is then imported into Hasselblad Phocus software, at which point it becomes an fff file. Still a raw file at this stage, it can be exported as Tiff, Jpeg or Dng. ACR can read and process the original 3Fr file but not the fff file. Qimage can read the fff file but not the 3Fr.
I believe Flashpipe uses the same engine as Qimage, so would I be correct in assuming it will not be able to read the original 3Fr file from the memory card.
I am sure that there is good reason for what appears to be a very convoluted method of conversion on Hasselblads part, but is there any possibility that any future version of Flashpipe will be able to deal with the 3Fr files.
Life would be oh so much simpler then, to be able to download the raw files and process a set of Jpeg's for quick analysis at the press of a button would be Heaven. I would still use Phocus as the raw processor as at the moment I don't think any other program can deliver the goods.

Just for grins, have you tried renaming the suffix part of the 3fr file to fff?

Just tried it but no good.
the 3Fr file name is A0000729, once imported through Phocus the only visible difference is it becomes A_00729
Qi does not see it at all.
It was worth a shot though.

What model Hasselblad are you using? If you take the original A0000729.3FR and rename the file to A0000729.FFF, it might work in Qimage/FlashPipe. Qimage/FlashPipe don't have the "3FR" extension labeled as a raw file extension. If you rename the 3FR file to FFF, it'll tag it as raw and it should open it. If so, I can fix both FP/Q in the next version by just adding "3FR" as a valid raw file extension.

Hi Mike,
thanks for reply. sorry for not getting back sooner but I have been out of town a few days.
I tried renaming the 3FR file but it is still not recognized.
I am using a H3D ll 31Mp if this is any help.
I also notice that after import into Phocus the file size has increased by 2.5 MB
It is only recently that Hasselblad has collaborated with Adobe which enabled the opening and editing of their files in ACR.
However, while searching for a file browser some time back, that would allow me to preview the 3FR files, I found one of the few for PC was Google Picasa.
I doubt that there was any collaboration here. At the time I needed to be able to view my files on an inexpensive and not so powerful lap top while away.
I do not know how protective Hasselblad are of their files but it would be nice to have a broader choice in programs that Blad owners could opt to use.
Having said that, I can also understand the effort Hasselblad have put into Phocus and I doubt that 3rd party software could produce images to the same standard of conversion.

HAPPY DAYS !!
I don't know what has happened but I just up upgraded QI from v210.107 to 108 and it reads both 3Fr and fff files.
Needless to say, I have just bought Flashpipe.
I'll keep you posted if I come across any hiccups.
I cannot wait to give it a test drive.
