If there are no images in the queue, or if there are JPGs, the raw refine selection from that menu is inoperative. (Nothing to work on from there)
If you right mouse click on any raw thumbnail, then you have REFINE, or just click the little multi colored button on the thumbnail.
There are m ore ways, but let's get you started.

You can see from your screen shot the images are not camera raw images otherwise you would see the multi coloured raw refine button on the thumbnail.
See attached screen shot of a camera raw image thumb (.CR2) next to a converted version thumb in tif format.

i have just started realizing what actually raw editing options are. i thought it is a default option comes up with every thumbnail.Smiley thanks for your support. i live in middlesex.

It is a default option. All you have to do is shoot your pictures in Raw mode in the camera.
It automatically will be seen by Qimage and processed by Qimage and allow you to REFINE the image if needed.
You can also run the Raw images through the regular editor for sharpening and stuff.

After hearing from you that you live in England, I called my friend Terry from Rugby to help you as your  time zones match better.

See attached screen snap.

Notice that the left and right side image file names are white. The middle one is colored.
That indicates that "I" did not touch those with the white filename. You an see from the thumbnail images that Qimage Ultimate has processed them by default and if they do need anything in Refine, it would be a minimal tweak.
