I recently received an e-mail from a close friend's e-mail address. As it was a long chain of e-mails that we were sending back and forth, I was excitedly awaiting their response.
The subject line was the same as we had been using for a few weeks now to exchange information.
Imagine my surprise when I find that the e-mail sent FROM THEIR ACCOUNT was, in fact, an advertisement for Qimage software.
I'm very disappointed that this seemingly legitimate software would need to stoop so low as to use phishing, spoofing, and spam to advertise their product.
Mike, if you really want to get your message out there, write a piano jingle - and keep me out of it.

You received nothing of the sort from us, unless they forwarded it to you or it was sent via another company that is trying to rip off our software!  We don't phish or spoof anything.  We occasionally send offers and notices about breakthrough features directly to our customers who have purchased in the past, but they all come from one of our two email addresses at ddisoftware.com.

This is verbatim what I received (important information xx'd out for security)

Subject: Latest database updates

We are sending this email to let you know about an important new feature in the 2015 Edition (released Sep 3).  The new Hot Folder feature can be used to print photos through Qimage Ultimate using any device including Macs, smartphones, Linux computers, or any other device that can access shared folders on your network.  You only need one Windows PC running Qimage Ultimate on your network to be able to use Qimage Ultimate for printing on any networked device.  Please continue reading for more info on this exciting new feature.

By running Qimage Ultimate on any networked Windows PC, you can now use important Qimage Ultimate features from any device connected to the same network, including queuing prints at various sizes, clearing the queue, and actually printing queued photos.

The process is simple: on your Windows machine running Qimage Ultimate, set up the printing job in Qimage Ultimate by setting paper size, image auto-placement option, driver settings, printer profile, load media in your printer, and then select your shared network hot folder and turn hot folder monitoring on.  With Hot Folder monitoring turned on, the photo printing possibilities are nearly limitless.

You can perform actions like the following (from other devices connected to the same network as your Qimage Ultimate PC), without ever touching the Windows PC that is running Qimage Ultimate:

- Queue images directly from your smartphone at 8x10, 5x7, or any size available in Qimage Ultimate, and once queued, print those images from your smartphone.

- Drag and drop images from your Mac computer into the 8x10, 5x7, 4x6 etc. hot folders, and start printing from your Mac.

- Save pics right from your Mac email program into hot sizing folders, then print.

- Using a network-connected machine in another location or building, save/export images right from a photo editor into hot size folders, and start printing from that remote machine.

- At a local event, drag/drop files from any networked device and start printing.

- "Send" images straight into the queue of another user running Qimage Ultimate.

- Access the STATUS file in the hot folder from any device on the network: see how many images are in the queue, the current paper size, and other important stats.

As you can see, the possibilities are incredible, opening up the ability to use the optimal quality printing capabilities from any non-Windows device.  If this is a feature that you would find beneficial, you can purchase at the link below to use this and the many new features found only in Qimage Ultimate such as Print Unclog Patterns, Raw Photography for the latest cameras, and much more:

Unless you have access to my friend Marlene's account, I'm not sure what other explanation there is. It would be very convenient if another company was trying to rip off your software by providing legitimate links to your product, youtube channel, and signing it with your name.

Then either your friend accidentally pasted the wrong thing into the email, forwarded the wrong email, or something with her email client got it's records cross-linked.  That email came directly from our server and had both a from and reply-to address of mchaney at ddisoftware dot com.  It only went to people who had purchased from us in the past.  My guess is she owns an old copy of our software, got a copy, and somehow it got forwarded from her computer to yours.  The email was sent directly from the "newsletter" feature of this forum and SMF doesn't have an option to "spoof" nor have we ever spoofed ANYTHING!
