Hi,
I want to fill the wall with a photo on phototex 24". I see qimage can split the image but the preview only shows one page with red writing on the left top showing the split across pages.
is there any way i can see the split before actually printing?

does qimage calculate an overlap?
Thanks

Hi Paul...
In reading between the lines from your message, it sounds like you have a printer with a 24 inch wide carriage.
Please specify which printer you are using.
If I guessed right, like an Epson 7800 or bigger, then you should user defined as the paper size, with 24 as one dimension, and as long you wish (depending on the roll length and wall size). Then you will be able to see it on screen as a full unit.

By overlap, in poster mode, you probably mean the margins where the single prints will be seamed together?  You will likely need to trim some white, but using the first method with User defined, it will come out as on long print. Use borderless and you minimize excess.

Hope some of this helps...
I did look up Phototex 24...

Neat stuff!

Thanks Fred,
You are right. My printer is Epson 7900. I want to make some wallpaper using Phototex. Fun stuff.

I want to cover a wall about 6 foot wide and about 4 feet high.

I realise I am going to have to line up the separate panels on the wall.
I was just wandering if Qimage will show me the separate panels as a preview, like page 1, 2, 3, etc.
Or do I have to wait till it is printed?

Hi Paul,
As I said above, in previous message, if you use the User define mode of printing instead of Poster mode, you will be able to see the entire print before you print each full length.

Each panel will be a separate page... Each 6 foot long print will be visible before you print it. If you want to print 2 6 foot long prints, then you will see that on PAGE 2 in Qimage
See screen snaps
Page is 73" long... 23.78 wide (adjustable if you use borderless)
Print size is 72" x 23.5  (Banner Mode)

You set your own dimensions, but you can see it.
The third screen snap is PAGE 2  if you wanted to see page two; the next strip.
OK?
Fred
Hope that helps.

So now the idea is taking shape.
I have been asked to print one of my photos onto Phototex to cover a door and a wall. Door is 70cm wide and 2metre high. The wall is also 2mtr high but about 4 mtr wide.
My printer is Epson 7900 24", 62cm

Using Qimage, how do I instruct the printer to give me some overlap on the joins?

Plan is, as I have seen on utoob, hang each strip, line up the next one with some overlap and cut thru the overlap so all joins are virtually invisible.

Do i use "poster", edge to edge, what...Huh???

Thanks guys.
Have a great day.

Hi Paul,
My eyeballs spin when I try to use inches to mms to cms to Metres.
You will have to wait for Terry on that.
But when I use poster mode, teh panels come out with a small margin all way around; usually a .12 inches.
You can see this in the page editor

Thanks for the prompt reply.
You guys have been at this for years. Amazing.

It would be nice if the page editor showed where the splits would be.
Perhaps an added feature for new versions?

Have a great day.

Paul, you can see the splits if you check the box in your driver for PREVIEW

First two snaps are panels from your poster, The last one shows that I was making a 24 x 16 poster print using 8.5 x 11 paper.
Just click on the left and right arrows in that preview screen, and see all your splits.

Great. Thanks.

Would be nice to see the cuts in QI. Good workaround though.

So do I select multipage in the driver, or Poster rows and columns in QI?

Door width about 30inches and height about 84inches.

I would like to have the joins running horizontal and not vertical.

How's that for testing your knowledge?

Thanks for the help

Just rotate in teh driver. If your image is landscape put a check in the driver box for portrait.
Just set the page size to whatever size paper you are really using, and the print size to the actual print size you want.
Qimage will make your poster panels for you.
No need to tell it how many pages or anything

... perhaps you can rotate the room???

:-)

Thanks Fred. Sounds like it will work.

Will let you know.

Any suggestions which liquid refreshment will speed up the room rotation?
Will only 15year old do it or can I stick to the 10 year old.

If it's 30 year old for the job, I might as well demolish and rebuild.

You see, I find that extra funny.
I read the above, and was not sure if you were talking about whiskey or grand children.
I don't drink.!
Never had to in order to become silly, so I am really not on the inside track when people in the movies talk about having a 10 year old Scotch, or more arcane,,, The Single Malt.

To me, having grown up in The Bronx, NYC, in the early 30s and 40s, a single  malt was only one scoop of ice cream in your malted milk!

Thr world moves on, but I stand still!

Now, Just recovered from the bottle of single malt.

I did the following:

Select paper size: 24inches by 78 inches
Photo size: 34inches by 78inches

Qimage says photo too big. therefore gonna spread across multiple sheets.
I say, go for it!

print preview (via epson driver) shows 2 sheets. i'm happy.

Printer prints 2 long prints. good!
Problem is 1/8th inch borders of white!! How do i match the 2 prints together to show virtually no join?
should i have printed borderless? (via driver)?

thanks for any help
have a great day

Hi Paul,
That must have been some hangover.

OK, I just actually printed a 2x1 poster with Borderless turned on so you can butt the edges and tape.
It has been a while, and I wanted to be sure.
Stay well,
Fred

I think you need to turn Expansion OFF in QU otherwise part of the image will be lost.
