I have been using Qimage to print on my 44-inch HP Z3200ps successfully for papers up to 24 inches wide.  The driver I’m using is “HP DesignJet Z3200ps Photo V4”.

Today, I loaded a roll of 44-inch wide paper but got this message... “Invalid media size.  Please enter values in the following range: Width: 8.27.. 36.00, Length 11.00.. 48.00” when I tried to "user define" the paper width of 44 inches, since I couldn’t find anything on the paper size option list wider than 36 inches.  It doesn’t seem right that you can only print up to 36-inch wide paper on a 44-inch printer.

I have done research on the web but so far found no answers. Has anyone ran into this problem before?  Any help on this issue is appreciated.

BTW, “Enable advanced printing features” option is shaded and turned on.

When you get that message, it is telling you that given the current printer driver properties, the driver is reporting those values as the maximums.  The first thing would be to click on the "Properties" button on the Printers and Settings tab and make sure you have a 44 inch roll selected in the driver.  Check all (other) relevant settings in the driver because one of the settings is limiting you to that 36 inch width.  Qimage has no control over that: it has to obey what the driver reports and that is what it is doing in this case so we have to look at the driver for answers/fixes.

My driver 44 PCL 3 works OK

Mike,

Thanks for the fast response!!  I tried what you said and created a custom paper size (44X66) in Windows printer property tab.  Once I'm back in Qimage, I was able to select the new customer paper size and no more error messages.  The print came out in the right size with some horizonal banding.  The diagnostic print shows many broken lines for Light Cyan... I think it's time to get a new Light magenta-Light cyan print head... should have made the diagnostic print before I made that big print! Well, another lesson learned.

Fred, I'll keep in mind the PCL3 driver, that might come in handy some day when my current driver goes corrupted, which happened more than once before.
