Title: Nozzle check - Yellow
Post by: MelW on September 29, 2019, 12:20:59 AM
I guess age has finally taken its toll. When I run a nozzle check - I really can't see the yellow lines.  I have tried printing on darker paper - still no luck.  Does anyone else have this problem or have a trick for overcoming it?  I have tried printing the yellow only unclog problem and I think it looks ok, but I'm not sure whether there is anything missing or not.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Mel,
That's always been a problem for me. I check under a strong light with a small but strong magnifying glass.
However, Yellow never seems too be a problem so I don't often do a detailed check.

Ditto on what Terry said. Same for me.

At least that explains why you miss the bowl so often.

I use a 10x loupe for the yellow nozzle check but one thing that can sometimes help is lighting the paper from the back with a flashlight.  It's sometimes easier to see the lines with light coming through the back of the paper.

Fred, Terry, Mike - Thanks much - magnification and light - backlight - a big help.  Fred - you are wiser than you realize.

The easiest way to review yellow is to take a picture with your cell phone.
I'm not sure what is going on with the sensor, but the yellow nozzles will stand out clearly in the picture.

All of the above plus look at the yellow through a blue filter. Complementary colours and all that.

A blue gel from a flash modifier, or even a blue glassine wrapper from a candy bar (candy translates as sweets for our Anglo friends) will do the job.
