I am pretty new to Profile Prism - just know it from a friend recently.
I really want to try it as some said it works, and some there said it's not that simple. I have Canon LiDE 110 scanner and VueScan - will these meet the requirement?
I am running a small home printing shop here in Cambodia and I am using many types of paper and a few inks too from Inktec and generic one (no-name) as not many customers want to pay much either. Just currently I am switching to pigment inks too to give more archival quality, but I have trouble to make the color right - honestly I also can't get accurate colors with dye ink either resulting red and green shadow cast Grin

Here are the pictures I tried printed in grey scale which I believe can be improved and corrected with the right profile: http://www.flickr.com/photos/soweic/9334523034/
1. Top left is printed with Epson 1390 and pigment ink using provided Epson Glossy profile (you can see the magenta shadow)
2. Top right is printed with Epson 1400 and Inktec dye ink using provided Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster profile (you can see the greenish cast)
3. Bottom left is printed with Canon MP600 and dye ink using provided Plain Paper profile (it's the best grey scale I can get, but using plain paper profile is limited which the picture printed is not smooth and high quality though choosing Fine)
4. Bottom right is printed with Canon MP600 and dye-ink again using other profiles rather than Plain Paper! (All profiles beside Plain Paper - Fine, I got all sepia look! - wasted 20 photo papers  Sad )

Is there a way I can ask for one ICC profile be made here before I can plunge in to get my own Profile Prism?

Thanks in advance for all the helps.

P.S: I am also looking for a used calibration device to calibrate my LCD.

You have the ideal combination; the program developer Mike Chaney, the program developer,  recommends the Lide and the use of Vuescan with Canon scanners.

Regarding you images of test prints (scans shown I assume), using an Epson paper & inks with an Epson profile should give a good result.
I note the hand written text under one image says "vivid" which implies the driver was set to "color controls" instead of "No Color Adjustment" for correct use of a profile with colour management.
How are you printing, what software are you using, is it colour management aware?
Also why print a test image in grey scale, what about the colours?
Sorry about all the questions but we need to understand your processes.

I suggest you try to standardise on a few papers and one inkset per printer; the printer brand ink will be the most reliable but if using a compatible ink, it must be consistent.

Not unless some has one already that matches a printer, ink set and paper. However, most profile Prism users are very satisfied with the results, see http://ddisoftware.com/tech/profile-prism/thumbs-up-for-pp/
There's a great deal of useful information on the web site http://www.ddisoftware.com/prism/help/

You'll have to search e-bay!
A calibrated monitor is usually the first step towards full colour management. I use an X-Rite Eye One 2 Display device and you can download the software for older models from the X-Rite web site.

I hope that is of some help but if you can comment & answer the questions, we can probably help a little more.

I using Photoshop CS5 with printer manage color.
I am printing in B&W because I can see the color cast shadows easily.
I also tried without vivid, but still the prints come out  not B&W, except for one testing as you can see 'printed using Plain Paper as profile', but this cannot give quality picture prints.

I really want to use Profile Prism, but before that I have to make sure it can really improved at least one of my printing and that I am asking if someone here can help send me the target so I can print and scan to them to create one profile for me to test - I hope you can help.

I so very happy to get your reply and this means a lot to me.

That seems an odd approach as your test image does have a grey scale and I assume you normally print in colour - confirm that please.

If you are in the driver and can set "Vivid" then the driver is not set correctly for colour managed printing.
I'm not familiar with printing via CS5 as I use Qimage Ultimate for printing (the best  Grin) but I have some information from a friend, see screen shots attached.
You need PS manages color.
Then you pick the printer followed by selecting the profile.
OR if you want PS to control the printing, you follow the instructions
to manage.... then you set the top right to OUTPUT, follow the yellow
warning to click on Printer setup to disable the printer. That gives
us the normal driver where we select NO COLOR ADJUSTMENT.
Note - PS does not remembering the settings.
You need to turn off all driver colour control as it says. The terminology will be a little different for different makes of printer.
With your Epson printer, inks, paper and profile you should get good results, set up correctly and try again.

You need to get the set up for colour management right first otherwise you'll still be in a mess despite Profile Prism making good profiles at an economical price.

I tried print both in color and greyscale.

I am sorry I might have confused you.
I have no profile yet and what I am using is generic profile provided with the machine only, that's why I asked if profiling through Profile Prime will fix the color cast issue. If it does, it will save me a lot for getting the device, so if you can help send me the target to print and scan back to you to help create one for me will help me decide, please.

Edit: Is the target soft copy or hard? What is the it8 target actually? Maybe I am asking too much.

OK, I see now. If you used Epson original inks with your 1390 and downloaded their profile for that printer & Epson paper, you would get a good result - useful as a benchmark.

Yes it will and you can edit a PP profile in Profile Prism.

The IT8 target is "hard" copy and is the colour standard used. The PP target is an image which you print and then scan together with the IT8 target, see attached.
The resulting image is then loaded into  PP and after making various settings, a profile is made and loaded into the Windows "Color" folder.
The IT8 target and all information is supplied when you purchase Profile Prism. I hope the postal services in Cambodia are reliable!

Thanks so much, this really explain it all Smiley
Anyway, the IT8 target will be sent free to me once I order the Profile Prism? One is enough?
Would you mind creating one ICC profile for me if I already have the IT8 target (IT 8.7/2 Reflective Scanner Target on Kodak Professional paper) to see if it will really work or not? I am sorry for my skepticism.

That is not possible because I do not have your printer.
Profile Prism works, just do it  Wink
