As we know every thing fades over time.
So assuming an IT-8 target is only used a couple of times a year, then put back in its protective sleeve then store in a box.
How long before it would have faded so much that it is not worth using.

other words how long do they last assuming they are looked after corectly

It's difficult to say as everyone's storage conditions will be different.
If you are still getting good profiles then the target is probably ok.
If you need to replace, you can buy direct from http://www.targets.coloraid.de/

Thanks for the reply.

My target came when I originally got PP back in 2008.
Its kept in its plastic sleeve, inside the thick cardboard envelope it was delivered in, then that is stored inside a cardboard box, inside a cupboard.
Only ever taken out a couple of times a year, if that.
Last time I used it was with a canon all in one, and was struggling with the scanner not be able to pick out the darker shades.

That has been binned and bought an epson printer and a cannon 9000f scanner.

So was wondering about getting a new target too.

Have you ordered from coloraid.de ? Is it as simple as paying by pay pal and adding in the notes what you want. ( That's how it comes across to me)

Yes, I ordered in 2012 and it was a simple process as I remember. I cannot remember how I paid but it may have been Paypal, otherwise by credit card. As they are so cheap, I ordered 2 and kept one in its original packing - just in case I damaged one!
I think Mike now recommends buying spares direct from Coloraid.
I cannot remember how old my original target was when I replaced it but did notice an improvement in profiles at the time, so  I would recommend you replace yours too.

Just to update.

ordered a new target from coloraid.de
Pretty simple method of ordering. No need to email or phone, just pay the guy by paypal and leave a note with the payment of what you want.... job done. Ordered Thursday arrived the following Tuesday.

Although it didnt seem to make much difference if any. Hard to say as the profiles still needed tweaking in the same way as they have always.
