New user of Profile Prisim.  Took a bit to get things right, for the first time in the 4 years since I have had the R1900, I can print on 2 different papers and the images are not only identical, but they reproduce the image from my monitor faithfully.

I am using a old Canon MP950 for a scanner with VueScan.  I have my monitor profiled with a Colorvision Spyder, again, pretty old.  I have never been really happy with the output from the R1900, results were good, but anytime I started to use a different paper, lots of print and throw away sessions until I played with the color setting on the R1900 to get something that was good enough.

I got the IT8 color chart yesterday and this morning started to work with Profile Prisim.  The results are fantastic, using Red River Ultra Pro Satin and Costco/Kirkland gloss, the output to each paper is so close that without holding up to a light to ID the glossy finish you can't tell one from the other.

The only issue I am not sure about is the print settings.  To obtain the highest quality, I have the ICM profiles  set up in the printer.  When I set them up in Qimage, the output is much to bright, colors are over saturated a lot.  I have the printer set to ICM, ICM basic, with the Input Profile set for my latest monitor profile, Intent set to perceptual, and the Printer Profile set to the profile created with Profile Prisim. Qimage is set to let the printer control the color.  These setting work perfectly.

If I set the ICM  to Off (No Color Adjustment) in the printer set-up, and set the printer profile in Qimage to the same as used when setting in the printer, things get ugly.

I'm ok, thrilled actually, using the setup in the printer, just wondering why I could not get it to work when setting things up in Qimage.

What settings did you use when you printed the target?  They have to be the same when you print using the PP profile.

ICM to "Off" (no color adjustment) on the printer.  I have read to keep the settings the same, but when using those settings the image is over-saturated.

If the correct paper is selected in the driver, and the Quality setting is the same, and Color management is set to off, then the driver is set correctly. (Assuming as Wolverine said, the same settings were used to create the profile)
We now have to ask how you printed the target.
Did you use ORIGINAL SIZE/ Did you use the built in Print Target JOB that comes with Qimage?
This is important! Did you let the target print dry... and cure?
See screen snap.

Were your scans done in RAW mode. Did you answer the question from Profile Prism when it asked you?

Make a test.   Use the profile that came with your printer for Epson Ultra Premium Glossy.
Set the driver as we said, above.
Put that Epson Profile into the correct slot in Qimage (See screen snap), and make a print. Make sure you use the Epson Premium Glossy profile. I didn't have the one for the 1900 in my stash, so I used the 1400 to illustrate.

Well, yes to all of your questions, except letting the print dry overnight.

Used original size, used the "bright" target as when I used the standard, I had 17-28 areas that were beyond the min/max.  When I used the "light" image, there were less than 10 areas that were beyond min/max.

Scans were done in raw mode, now that the prints have had 24+ hours to dry and cure, I will give it another go.  I will also post the messages produced when creating the profiles.

Thanks

Well, I finally got a chance to play a bit with this.  I re-profiled the printer, obviously the printout had time to dry by this time, then printed with the printer set-up with the profile then printed the same image with Qimage controlling to profile.  they are pretty close, but now the Qimage output is better than when the printer has the profile loaded.

Thanks for the tips, the bad part is now I have a whole lot of printing to do.  Smiley

BTW, this was done with using the Costco paper, really happy with it!!

After a couple months of use, I decided to create new profiles, this time really reading and paying attention to all of the instructions and comments in the Help/How to section.

It's been a month and a number of prints since then, all I can say is I have never been happier with my R1900.  The color definition and accuracy are as close to what is on my monitor as I could ever want.  Really outstanding, fantastic program, one very happy customer!!
