When I increase the height of the print properties window I get more empty space on the bottom but the scroll area doesn't enlarge so the scroll bar goes away (so all print sizes are visible). I have one print size that is not visible so I have to use the scroll bar to see it and on the bottom there is a blank line with no print size which doesn't seem useful?

Also, can the position of this window be locked? It seems to move to a different location depending on where I click (haven't noticed a pattern yet) but the default seems to be in the upper right hand corner of the thumbnail window when it moves by itself.

A few of the print sizes are in blue - what does that mean?

That little feature has been around for years.
It indicates that the thumb you selected matches the blue sizes most closely by virtue of the aspect ratio.

The flyout position of the size properties depends on which side of the screen you needed clear.
If you are selecting thumbs, the box flies out to the right staying off the thumbs. If you are dealing with the job side, the box flies out left over the thumbs, giving a nice clear view of the right side for print positioning.

It is really sneaky smart!!

I see what you are saying now about where the window pops up. Makes sense.

Still wondering about resizing the window and the scroll bar. I think that is just a simple programming change.

My re-size properties is not full. Hence no scroll bar.
I will have to see what you are seeing.

This must be a bug. I had the print properties window open and was going to delete a print size that I didn't use from the list. I forgot to select the size and no size was highlighted in the window. I clicked the tool box button and the print properties window disappeared. I minimized all my windows and it wasn't hidden. I clicked on Qimage to maximize it and as it was filling the screen I saw the print properties window but then it was gone when the window finished maximizing. I closed Qimage and restarted to fix the problem.

I can't repeat that but will keep a look out for a disappearing pop-out.
Going back to your original query regarding expanding the size pop-out box to eliminate the scroll bar - the problem with that is a bigger box will obscure more of the main screen.
I find that my scroll wheel does not work with the pop-out, that would be the ideal solution for me.

You can already make the pop up window larger by grabbing the corner and dragging it. It is a user choice how big the pop up should be. All I am saying is that in most applications the scroll area can expand so if you make the window larger the scroll bar will go away if there is enough room because the scroll area will increase in size if you make the window larger by dragging. Windows Explorer is an example. No scroll bar on the right if all the files can be listed in the main window. If you decrease the size of the Explorer window at some point you will get a scroll bar.

Anyway, I just deleted some sizes that I don't use that Qimage inserted into that list so no scrolling is necessary now.

Sneaky, perhaps...but frequently annoying. The way it works now, it will pop up over the help window and even other applications. This jumping back and forth is distracting. Since I have lots of screen space on my monitor, I would be much happier if it just stayed where I drag it. Is it at all possible to make that a general configuration option?

Thanks so much.

Cheers!

I have the same issue as the OP...the Print Properties box shows a scroll bar but won't allow me to resize the window to get rid of the scrolling. I have attached a clip.

Cheers!

You do not really need to get rid of scrolling but you can do it by reducing the number of print sizes in the list.  Shocked
However, Mike made this window capable of mouse-over scrolling so there is never any need to use the scroll bar (assuming you do have a scroll wheel on your mouse!).
I have a mouse wheel that can be set to "freewheel", that is very fast  Grin

My scroll-wheel works, as you say, but it is still scrolling. And I need all those sizes and more...I had about a twenty more custom sizes in Qimage SE which I will be adding to QU shortly.

By the way, as I type this, the Print Properties dialog box is sitting over my browser window, obscuring it even as I type. It does this from time to time and I haven't figure out the pattern. All I'm saying is I think this dialog box is still in need of some improvements.

Cheers!

If you had them in SE they should still be in Q-U, unless you removed them.
You can have more than one list of sizes and load the appropriate list as required. Qimage comes with 2 already, standard & large.

That is odd. Hopefully Mike will pick that one up.
