When I import photos from a memory stick, I like to store pictures in folders with a simple year\month folder structure (with occasional exceptions).

Qimage insists on creating a subfolder with today's date. I always clear the box with the subfolder name, whose caption says it's optional, but it goes ahead and creates the subfolder anyway.

Is there a way of stopping this? Thanks for any tips.

I know it's not the absolute latest version, but I'm only a very occasional amateur user. This problem has bugged me for months and I've only just got around to doing something about it!

Sir, love to help. Need more information.
"Import" to Qimage? What does that mean? Most of us would copy from a stick to a folder on the hard drive.
Sometimes, I might use Flash Copy Move built into Qimage to move files from a source to a folder or new folder.
I can even open the folder on the flash drive in Qimage proper using "Open folders, Click to close" from the thumb area.
So what are you doing, precisely, to IMPORT?

Apologies - that was pretty vague.

Yes, I'm use "flash card copy/move".
When I do that, in the 'operations' panel I have instructions to "move" photos to a folder called pictures\2021\January. The optional 'subfolder' box is pre-completed with the day's date.

I can clear the 'subfolder' box  but when I click "go", the photos are nevertheless put in a subfolder with today's date.

I could manually move photos in Explorer, and often do. It's quite convenient to have it built in, but it's not critical.

Fixed it myself! I found the settings tickbox to stop this happening, but it wasn't where Id' expected to find it. (it's accessed from the dialog, not the main program menu)

It never used to do this, so I suspect I must have reset the settings when upgrading at some point.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

That's exactly what I suspected. OK Glad it worked for you.
Stay Well,
