Just bought a canon ip8750 printer.(my Epson 2100 14 years old died)

Created an ICC profile using Profile Prism.(I have been using qimage and profile prism for years); followed the instructions
in color management to the letter selected NONE in the color matching menu.
however the PRINTS HAVE A CAST, I would much appreciate any help or comments. Many thanks, mical.

 UPDATE AND THE SOLUTION.
 DON'T USE CANON PRINT PREVIEW. UNCHECK IT.
 PRINT DIRECTLY FROM QIMAGE NO COLOR CAST APPEARS ON THE PRINT
    
Using the canon print preview option seems to add back into the print an unwanted level of color management when using
ICC PROFILES.
Hope these new comments help if anyone comes across this issue.

A couple or three items.
!) I never found Print Preview to be a representation of the actual colors, so I am hoping that you actually made a paper print

2) Have you tried a profile that came with the printer?

3) I also assume you have selected the correct paper type i.e Glossy, Semi, Luster...

Thanks for your reply; yes I have made numerous prints with both of the profiles I made; first with Epson glossy paper then with Epson heavyweight matte, all have printed with a cyan-ish cast.
I have always used third party inks with various paper types so creating ICC profiles has become part of my work flow.
That was with my old Epson of course, with this canon ip8750 I am wondering whether the print driver is limited to Canon ink/Canon paper only profiles from the drop down list in the menu, in which case I may have made a bad choice.
If you any further ideas I would appreciate any help. Many Thanks, Mical

Prints made with the profiles that came with the printer are OK with qimage set to let printer/driver manage color

Sorry, Mical, I just do not understand.
If you set Qimage toi LET PRINTER MANAGE color, you haven't used the profiles that came with the printer.
But if that looks good, that says, the profile you made is off.
Using only Epson paper?
I have a Canon Pro 100 and I use Epson Prem Luster and Epson Premium Photo Glossy, and I have gorgeous prints.
Do you use either of those papers?
If so, we can try my profile even though a different printer, but we are looking for change.

Just adding to my first post - selecting NONE in the color matching menu does not seem to actually turn off Color Matching,
I think the cast may be an issue of double profiling, e.g. my ICC profile and Color Matching not being turned off.
Is it possible that Mike could have a look into there being a possible glitch? I've tried printing with my photo editor, it is ICC aware and it prints fine using my ICC profile. Color match does turn off using my photo editor.

Ok Mical,
Let's do this together.  I have your driver here.
What kind of paper? What paper selection in the Canon driver to match this?

See screen snaps for the same screens you should see.
Quality Setting; Turn color matching to OFF/NONE; Paper type selection and size.

Now comes the one that I think is causing your problem.
What does your screen show in the Qimage box called PTR PROFILE?
See screen snap.
This is the same driver controls that most all the Canon printers have.

There is no double profiling, no glitch in Qimage, you either have a mismatched profile, or a setting is wrong.
Please show me a snap of the properties screen of Qimage.

It is all in the profile vs paper selected.
Your screen snaps show an Epson Heavy Matte profile being used in a Canon printer using a Canon driver.

Do you have any other Epson papers; Ultra Premium Luster or Ultra premium Glossy?
If you do have either paper, please email your address to wathree.ssz@verizon.net

I have one profile for either to try which I had made.

It wouldn't be a "match" as I have 8 inks, and you have 6, but worth a look.

Hi Fred.
While I was away I did some more research. A number of people had the same issue, major color cast when using ICC profiles BOTH ON PRINT PREVIEW AND THE PRINTED PICTURE. The answer is, DO NOT USE CANON PRINT PREVIEW - UNCHECK IT.
Printed straight from Qimage using the Profile Prism I made, all good - happy days. (See below).

Glad it all worked out.
I recall in the beginning of the thread... my saying,   "!) I never found Print Preview to be a representation of the actual colors, so I am hoping that you actually made a paper print"

Nothing beats making a print on paper for testing,,, not print preview nor Soft Proofing.

Terry recently replied to a similar discussion where the complaint was based on print preview.
Try to grasp the idea that the print preview shown to you by the driver has no idea what ink you use, nor even what brand of paper.
But when you print, aaah, the chemicals take over and you can see what you have.
