Yesterday I un-boxed and initially setup a new Canon Pro-100 (upgrading from an HP AIO, which yielded acceptable results on my HP Win 10 laptop, just limited to 8.5x11 paper).  I only installed the standard Canon driver (d'l'd from Canon yesterday), not the XPS driver.  I didn't install any of the "helper" programs.

I think in previous versions it was easy to configure QI to manage color, and in another thread for a different printer there was a statement that the "your driver must be set to No COLOR MANAGEMENT.".

1.  I can't find the setting that lets QI manage color.  Did I just imagine I did that before?  Or am I just not finding it?

2.  On the Printer Driver help window, item #3 & #4 says to open the "Matching" tab and select "None" from the list.  I don't have a "Matching" tab.

I plan to do all printing through QI.  For the time being, I'll be practicing & playing with the Canon Pro Luster 8.5x11 paper.

Any help or suggestions in getting the Pro-100 and QI to play nice together woudl be greatly appreciated.

I'll probably have a few more questions after I get this resolved.

You got the right guy here.
I have a Pro 100 and love it to pieces.

First, Go to EDIT PREFERENCES and scroll to Printer Driver Helper dialogue, and turn it off

1) In the Qimage settings tab, click Properties
2) Click on Quick setup tab and set to Photo Printing
3) Change to Main tab in the driver,  Set top, paper to Pro Luster, and the size to 8.5 x 11
4) Print Quality ... put a dot in custom and SET button... move slider all the way to the right to highest quality.
5) Color Intensity click MANUAL and then SET.
6) Manual color bos opens and you click the tab marked MATCHING..... Yo9u might have to wait 10 seconds for it to react... just wait.
You will get a box like shown in my screen snap. Click NONE

Done with driver.
042 shows the driver MAIN TAB
043 Matching
044 Shows the correct printer profile setting in the Qimage Profile setting box.

After you have this all set, make a test print.... if all good, SAVE THE SETUP
I am here if you have more questions.

Fred
PS if you are in the US or Canada, be happy to talk on the phone and walk through it.

Well, I was hoping you'd jump in!

First, Go to EDIT PREFERENCES and scroll to Printer Driver Helper dialogue, and turn it off
OK, done.  Training wheels in storage.

6) Manual color bos opens and you click the tab marked MATCHING..... Yo9u might have to wait 10 seconds for it to react... just wait.

A "bos"?  "Woudl" that be anything like a box?  (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

That MATCHING tab, now where did it come from?  I swear it wasn't there before.  No really.  Or maybe I need to clean my glasses and my monitor.

After you have this all set, make a test print.... if all good, SAVE THE SETUP
I am here if you have more questions.

I've been informed that I have to go with the CEO and run some errands.  (In the Domestic context, CEO now apparently means Chief Everything Officer!)  So I saved the setup for now, and will make a test print later.  Don't laugh, but my printer connections are via Sneaker Net (long story, including being on a metered connection).

I'll get back to you with my results later today (hopefully!).

And thank you, Fred, this was really helpful.  Truly.  (<stealth mode>Don't let anybody else read this part, but this just might be one of the best, if not the best", fora on the 'net. </stealth mode>)

I am well acquainted with CEO CFO and CO protocol.
One month ago, we celebrated our 65th wedding anniversary. (no typo)

"Woud? Would that be anything like "WOULD" or Wood  (Couldn't resist either).

OK couple of thoughts while waiting for you to be released.

1) the prints will appear dark initially. This is DYE ink and it has to cure. At least a couple of hours, and sometimes, overnight to get the final brightness.

2) Best I can do so far on ink buying was 103 for all 8 colors.  (Thankfully no gloss optimizer needed)

3 The prints are so exciting that I really do not give a "doo doo" how much it costs.

4) I got my printer in August 2016.  I got a lot of free paper from Canon.
They seem they have a running offer. Buy 2 sometimes 3 cartridges (16.99) and get 5 packs of paper free.
I have so much Luster and semi gloss, that I stopped buying ink from that offer.

They vary the p[aper type and quantity. But Free is Free

Thanks for those detailed settings Fred ... I'm new to QU and the Pro 100.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the first weekend of each month, a church where I play music, has all the couples with an
anniversary that month stand and say how long they've been married.

I do not recall any being as high as 65 ... congrats.

Fred,

Well, technically it is still "today" here in smokey Oregon (10:32pm), so I made it.  But first, I second the congrats on the 65!  Amazing, and rare.  I only have 21 more to hit that mark.

Printer setup per your instructions, and ran a couple of test prints.

Yeah, that could be a problem some day.  I'll worry about it then.

I'm stunned.  In my original post I said that the prints from HP AIO were acceptable.  No longer.  But it will serve as a really good copier and quickie doc printer.

I printed out a color test image from the DigitalDog website, and it looks better on paper than on my laptop.

I also printed out an image from my PEN-F, an SOOC JPEG, plus the SOOC raw file with no processing other than whatever magic is performed by QI.  They don't match each other completely color-wise, but independent of each other both are really crisp.  And both look better than the screen image.

So I now have a greater appreciation of your enthusiasm for the program.

So a couple of more questions:

1.  You show your RENDERING INTENT as "Relative colorimetric".  I've set mine to "Perceptual (default)".  Is there any reason for me to change this?

2.  Whenever I buy the complete ink package for the HP, there's always a large bundle of 4x6 glossy paper, unknown specs.  I went thru the process and created a profile for that paper, using the Canon profile for "Other glossy paper".  I'm starting to see where management of printer profiles could get out of hand.  Are there any suggestions/guidelines on how to keep things under control?

And thanks again for the help, it worked a treat.

I hope you let the prints dry/cure before judging.
What kind of camera are you using?

I use Relative Colorimetric. It provides the most accurate color.    Perceptual will shift colors to suit the gamut.

I am getting confused. When you select a paper type in the driver, that is not creating a profile.
Right now, use Canon paper, and use the Canon profiles that are recommended for the paper.
As soon as you have the setup absolutely correct to print, (paper selection, correct profile showing in Qimage printer profile box, settings in driver that we went over (Quality, Color management NONE), print size..... Now Save the setup.

Do it again when you use Semi Gloss, Premium Matte, Platinum Gloss...
I even make a printer setup for 8.5 x 11, A3, 13 x 19, and even Landscape/Portrait. for the same paper type

You are in Oregon... so anytime after my 4:00 PM today, feel free to call if you need any clarification.   941 359 1933

No, I didn't.  I was stunned as they came out of the printer.  This morning, after drying overnight, they look even better, but the differences between them are a bit more noticeable, but I'm pleased with either.

The Olympus PEN-F.

I did learn that basic procedure somewhere along the way, and it must have been one of the videos (one of yours?).

Heres' what I did:

1.  Loaded the profile I created based on your instructions.
2.  Clicked "Properties" to open the Canon Printer Properties dialog.
3.  Changed the "Media Type" to "Other Glossy Paper", paper size to 4x6.  Clicked OK to close the properties dialog.
4.  Clicked the "Save" button and saved as a new printer profile.  {{Canon PRO-100 series}}{{Other Glossy Paper 4x6}}.prt

It seems to work, but if you see anything amiss, let me know.

I have two profiles for the current printer that I'll be using (I have to do some weeding, I'll do that later).  Looking at your listing above, I can see ending up with possibly several dozen profiles for different papers, sizes, finishes, orientation, and Huh?.  My memory not being what it used to be (which really was never any good), how does one manage to keep track of all those profiles?  I plan to eventually try some of the various sample packs available from different paper suppliers (Red River, etc.).  Things could get messy.

I know about the keyword search and how to use it.  But what I'm asking, really, is how do you keep track of them?

And along that line, are the double braces {{}} in the profile names needed, serve some specific purpose?  I have one without the braces, and it seems to work.   "Canon Pro Luster 8.5x11 prt.prt" is identical to "{{Canon PRO-100 series}}{{Photo Paper Pro Luster}}.prt".  For some reason not understanding the braces is giving me pause.

That's where I'm at now.

Last night at 7:30pm, my contractor called and said he's coming this morning to remodel our back porch.  We weren't expecting him for a couple of weeks.  Anyway, I'll probably be a mildly annoying customer, so my forum activity may be somewhat spotty occasionally.

Thanks for the handholding, Fred.  Also for all the videos you've contributed.  I doubt I would have leaped into "real printing" without Qimage and the video tuts.

If you are  referring to keeping track of saved setups or Jobs, Just name them properly so SG-201 Semi Gloss 8.5 x 11 H, tells you what you need to know.
Canon Premium Semi Gloss 8.5 x 11 Landscape.

The braces usually indicate  printer that is not there, or in the case of the Pro 100, could be a previous driver install, or the XPS driver which is part of the Pro 100 driver.. Click one and see what you get.

I'm here if you need me, and you have my number, if yiou need to go live.
