Hi:

I've been trying to add a white border of 30 pixels or so to images going to the web
I have modifed wood.frame.gif so that it shows only a white border where the wood frame is, but QImage seems to ignore it when its white--the images for web never show the white frame. (The unedited wood.frame.gif works fine)

Is there a way to do this in QImage? I would prefer not to have to edit every image separately in my photo editor.

thanks

Does the white frame show in the editor when you apply the frame and when in the queue on tjh page preview? Set the page colour to black to be sure.
If not, set your "white" value to say 253, 255,255 although that should not be necessary if the white is a pure 255, 255, 255.

Terry is our expert on cut outs and wood frames, but I got the sense from your question that you want a white border around each image going to the web.
The wood frame idea might have been a workaround?

See screen snap attached... is that what you are looking for?

Very Easy!

Terry is our expert on cut outs and wood frames,
It is essential the white is not pure, eg. 253, 255, 255 RGB values.
You can either use as a frame with file name like Border white.frame.tif or cutout with file name as Border white.tif
The black image area in the middle must be pure black:RGB 0,0,0.
It's far better o start from scratch to make a cutout/frame. Read the Help under Features/Cutouts as to how the RGB values create transparency or not.
You do need a graphics program to do this and then convert to an image although the cutout file can be made in QU using print to file

See attached, a cutout-frame with a narrow white border made using only QU.
You could download and use this.

Hello Terry and Fred:

Many thanks.
I was in fact over-complicating things by desaturating the border. Your examples have shown me the way!

best regards

Thanks for responding. (We were worried that you went over to the Dark Side, Luke!) (Lightroom)

In the example of using a simple border, and not a cut out, you need only to leave the border instruction in the Print Properties and each image will get the same border as you place it into the queue.
Then as a batch, PRINT TO FILE.
That will allow you to set the size, PPI, and colorspace, (presumably sRGB for the web.)

Glad we could help.

Here's a QU feature if you use a cutout-frame version.
In the editor, apply the white border to an image that has no other edits. Then, in the Editor, use File, Save Current Parameters to File and make a meaningful name for the filter.
To apply the white border to a batch of images, select their thumbnails, right click and choose Predefined filter and select your white border filter.
This will then be added to all the selected images and retain any existing filters they may have.
