I often check the color space and dimensions of files by watching the status bar at the bottom while moving the mouse over the thumbnails. But apparently this nice feature has been lost in some recent update.

Is there a setting to bring it back? If not, how about a bug fix?

Hi Tom,
The feature is still there and I see data in the exif hotbar without ant problem: file size, pixel size, ISO, camera settings and colour space.
Not all images have exif data, especially those that have been saved in some other application where the data is lost.
Is that the case here?

Tom,
The on and off switch for the hot bar is in Edit Preferences, Hotbar ON/OFF
Maybe yours got turned off by accident?

Since it wasn't working for me last night I assumed the feature was gone or broken and didn't investigate further.

Since it still works for Fred and Terry I looked into it today and found out that it works for me too in most cases. I was browsing folders on my camera club's laptop, something I do every month for processing to submit club photos for competition.

When browsing to a directory with a drive letter, it works. So: Y:\2013_14\201403\Competition works fine, as does any directory on my own local computer.

but this equivalent to the same location doesn't work: \\Ycc-pc\c\2013_14\201403\Competition. The same thumbnails are shown and everything seems to work the same except for the missing status bar info display.

I usually map the club's laptop to y: but last night for the first time, I didn't.

So is this a problem worth fixing? At least I now know how to get around the problem.

Hi Tom,
I can confirm that a network folder does not show the exif data  Angry
Not sure why that is the case, hopefully Mike will pick this up

If for some reason you really need the EXIF data for some images in a folder, and that folder comes up in Q with no EXIF, select the ones you want, or all, and right click on the thumbs. Then COPY to a regular drive... The EXIF is back.

Easier still, right click over thumb and select Display Image Info, no profile shown if it's a raw though. In that case, open raw refine and it's visible there.

For one at a time, the easiest is to use InstaView (left click and hold). Not as fast as the status bar info display though.
