Title: In landscape mode, right border always prints larger than left border.
Post by: ahender on November 14, 2015, 04:00:38 PM
This is the same problem I had with my Epson 1400. I now own a Canon Pro 100 and am using Qimage Ultimate v2016.128.

With Qimage default settings, my image prints with uneven borders. There is nothing in my printer properties that would tell it to do this, as far as I can tell. Borderless is not selected.

In my latest try, I am working with an image that is 18.620 x 12.685 inches. That is the maximum printable area for a 13 x 19 image. In Photoshop, I have added an inset thin line that is exactly 1" from each edge of the paper on all four sides. When I print this, the distance between the edge of the paper and this inset line is the following:

Left: 1"

Top: 1"

Bottom: 1"

Right: 1-1/8"

If I go into Edit->Preferences->Print and Page Formatting->Page Margins, the default margins are:

Top .1333
Bottom: .1350
Left: .1167
Right: .2000

With this default, it prints incorrectly.

If I balance left and right equally, still prints incorrectly and appears incorrect in Qimage, as the screen shot below indicates. I have tried center placement and optimal placement with the same results.

Thanks...Alan

Sometimes there is a page binding option so one margin is wider allowing the print to be central after binding.  Is that selected?

Sandy,

That option has the margin(s) set to zero.

A Fred Miranda member pointed me to the right solution in the Help videos.

Once the margins are changed, I have to click the image, then hold the right mouse button for a few seconds, then fit to page again.

I was leaving out the last step.

Hi Alan,

You must have had Freehand mode set for this to happen. With it off, the image will automatically centralise when the margins are changed.
The appearance of the red "F" top right of the preview page changes for Freehand OFF and ON. The background of the F goes lighter for OFF.

You can do that easily in QU as a print feature using Photo Mat borders. It saves modifying and saving a new copy of the image and is extremely flexible in the way you can set borders, their dimensions, colour and number.

Thank you. I will play around with the borders feature.
