In the past version of Qimage when I set crop lock to 8.5 x 11 in the small box on the editing page it would save it in the available cropping sizes in the Crop Wizard box.

Recently those saved crop sizes disappeared and I cannot find a way to save my preferred crop sizes in the wizard.

Any idea if/how I can do this?

Sir,
I do not recall seeing such an option since it would be easier to just set the auto crop on which automatically sets the check mark in the Crop Lock box of the editor.
But not having used that in a while, I installed old Qimage Ultimates going back to late 2014. It was the same as it is today.

Perhaps you might be thinking of the saved print crops? Those would be valuable since you customize the crop. Those are saved  in a special folder so when you load that image in the queue at a print size you used before,Qimage will recall the crop for you.

Any help?

I remember having and using an 8.5 x 11 in the crop wizard selections as of 3-4 weeks ago then it disappeared, perhaps when I changed to a more recent version .

It wasn't there originally, i.e.when I first loaded Qimage Ultimate, several years ago.

Strange. Could you mention this to Mike?

Is it possible to add an 8.5 x 11 crop selection in the crop wizard box?

I proof with it all the time. It would be more useful to me than 16x20 or 24x36.

It would really be nice if we could put whatever sizes we want in the crop wizard rather than only the defaults there now. 2 or 3 anyway.

Don't know how difficult this would be to implement.

Thanks for your help.

Sir,
I would be happy to call Mike's attention to your post. He sees it anyway, just takes a few days.

I know what he will say...
Crop Wizard was designed to offer quick common sizes to the user. It has long been surpassed by giving the user the ability to make his own with a click of the mouse.
This method below is much more versatile as well as needing no extra attention on your part.

I have all the versions of QU, give me the last version number you had before upgrading.  (I am still willing to recheck for you.)

In the meantime, all I have to do is make a new or revised print size of 8.5 x 11. See screen snap 055
This will be permanent, use it any time.
Add your image to the queue with CROP SCISSOR ON.
When you go into the editor screen the aspect ratio will be 8.5 x 11, and there will automatically be a check in the Crop Lock box.
From that point on, any crop you draw will hold that ratio.  See screen snap 054.

Maybe you have a special situation that needs more detail?  What printer? What paper size? Whqat size print?

Well there's no accounting for memory at my age I guess.

Thanks much Fred A, the procedure you outlined for saving print/crop sizes works well.

I found entering it each time an annoyance. Annoyance gone.

I think QU has moved on considerably wrt workflow since the crop wizard was first introduced - I've known it all my QU life too!
The "normal" workflow would now be to select the print size from the prints tab, crop scissors on and then adjust crop position/size in the page editor. QU remembers that setting next time you print that image at a size with the same aspect ratio. This is what Fred has recommended too.
This work flow means it's easier to change the print crop aspect ratio if you change your mind later on. Remember too, selecting a size in the IMAGE editor is not really a linear size (images don't have inches or mm, only pixels), it's an aspect ratio. Hence it's more logical, imo, to do that using the print features.

Now, coming back to the Crop wizard in the image editor and the possible reason you may have "lost" some sizes. The wizard shows the first 9 sizes in the current set of sizes showing in the Print tab list. If you load a different set you will get 9 different sizes. See attached screen shots below.
I wonder if you've modified the set of sizes you normally use - or loaded a different set?

This is the key.  The crop wizard is an older tool and is rarely used anymore, but if you use it, be aware that it shows the first 9 sizes in your size list.  If you don't use larger sizes like 24x36 down to 10x12, just right click and delete those sizes from your size list.  You could also rearrange the sizes so the smaller sizes show at the top instead of the larger ones.  Either way, you can make the print size list show your most-used 9 print sizes at the top of the list.  Then those sizes are the ones you see in the crop wizard.

Good call Terry-M. That seems to be what I have done. I didn't realize sizes in Print Size Cue could be changed and I apparently inadvertently added 8.5x11 a longtime ago and the cue recently reloaded the default sizes. So I changed the top Print Cue sizes to ones that I typically use, deleted ones I'll never use, and all is well. They now pop up in my Crop Wizard.

Thanks much.
