Lately, I'm seeing and getting more photo files that are PDF images. Some test imaging software that needs to be sharp is now using PDF files for their targets (a change from JPG) and now this site too:

http://mansurovs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Siemens-Star-Focus-Chart.pdf

http://mansurovs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Focus-Test-Chart.pdf

and now this outfit is using PDF files as well in a move from their former JPG files:

Reikan Focal http://www.reikan.co.uk/focal/faq.html#how%20print%20target  All their sharp test targets are in PDF now too as well as their documentation.

So PDF printing may be a nice addition to QI rather than opening the images in Photoshop and converting them to something QI might see and use.

Hi there
Thanks for your nice sharing. It's really a good idea.Maybe it is wise to use PDF files as well in a move from their former JPG files. But I think there should be a relatively
PDF processing tool which supports to
print PDF files or convert PDF files effectively. And that is what i need.It would be better if there is a free trial package for new users. Thanks for any suggestions.

Surely there's no need to convert these to an image, just print them! One of the web site's says "a vector PDF file which means it can be printed at the highest resolution of your printer without any loss of quality"
PDF files are for documents with a mixture of text, drawings, and images in any combination - we always used them at work for critical documents because, in normal use, they could not be edited.
PDF is yet another Adobe custom format, now popular to make a reasonbly secure document that's readable for anyone without buying the software that created it.
It's not an image format, colour management data is not embedded, you can't edit it as an image, etc, etc.
QU does not need to print pdf files; this is an old chestnut I'm afraid  Roll Eyes

Hi

would it not work if you installed something like CutePDF and after opening the image in QU you sent it to the printer and chose CutePDF as the printer,
which would produce the image as a PDF?

Cheers

Rather I completely don't understand.
Install a PDF printer, like Daniel suggested ( Foxit, CutePDF ) select it as your printer, and.............print ! Smiley
