The RAW cache has turned pink in one of my folders. I've tried to rebuild and the thumbs are initially as they should be but gradually all turn pink (or magenta, if you like) as the cache rebuilds.  I've done an uninstall/reinstall of Qimage but the problem still persists. JPEG images in the same folder are unaffected. What have I done to cause this?..Any help in simple terms appreciated please.

Hi Gerry, what camera?
Is it new?

Any chance of sending me one image (RAW) either email     wathree.ssz@verizon.net. or if large, send via WE TRANSFER, Free service.

Turned pink in ONE folder, but others OK?

If just one folder, them Create a new folder with an altered name, copy the RAW files 3 or 4 at a time into the new folder and watch the thumbs and cache build.   Add more... and do the same.
You might have one corrupted image or a corrupted folder.

Let us know please.

Hello Fred...Thanks for your reply.

It IS a new camera, a Canon 5D Mk4 . I think you've hit the nail on the head regarding the corrupted image. I process and convert to JPEGs in Lightroom, using Qimage to print. When processing the folder, there was just one RAW file which came up 'Lightroom cannot process this file' or something like that. I'd not seen that before and pressed on with processing the remaining files. Obviously the problem only emerged when I opened Qimage.

This family event was the first time the camera was used for real, the previous test shots (a dozen or so) display no problem. The folder contains some 390 images including the converted JPEGS some of which will be printed. Being an old duffer, when something changes it's extra hard (for me) to adapt, this is why I use Lightroom and not Qimage for my processing. I'm using my laptop at the moment and when I open up my desktop later I'll have a go at sending you an image as well as opening up some more folders in Qimage.

Have you any idea what could have caused the corruption?

Update No1: RAW file K8A0095.CR2 Sent @ 09.55hrs BST via 'WE TRANSFER'

Update No2: I've just uploaded another 12 test shots and Qimage has turned those pink as well!!.....Have I got a dodgy camera?

Udate No3:  A further  batch of 14 uploaded FROM A DIFFERENT CANON 5DMK4 BODY with the same result, all thumbs are pink.

Perhaps Qimage is not liking 5DMk4 RAW files for some reason?

Thanks again...Gerry

Hi Jerry
Thank you for the image. I checked it out and found similar conclusions to what you observe.
You tried Lightroom. I tried Photo Shop. I get an error message that PS cannot  open the file.
Qimage opens it, but it gets reddish.
Just to clarify, this image was the one that Lightroom refused to open?  Other Raw images open correctly, or all Raw images from this camera are reddish?

I will give this image to Mike Chaney as soon as the hour arrives at which normal people awaken.
Then we will have a final answer.

Hi Fred...I've just seen your reply...The image sent was not the one Lightroom refused to open. The sent image was opened and processed successfully in Lightroom. To clarify, all Raw images taken with BOTH 5DMk4 bodies change from normal to the pink tint as Qimage builds the thumbs......

Ok that is important information.
I cannot get Photo Shop to open it..... so that is leading to a logical assumption:
Your NEW camera Canon 5D Mark IV is not listed as a camera that Qimage has registered.
It seems likely that Lightroom has the updated upgrade to accept the new Canon Mark IV.
My version of PS probably not yet updated to that new camera.
My best guess.
I would wait for Mike Chaney to confirm.

He has confirmed that camera is new and unaccounted for in Qimage.
Last DCRAW  update was May 10, 2016

I never had a color cast problem but did have to wait for dcraw to catch up with each of my last two camera acquisitions.  I am curious though - is the cast correctable by using the eye dropper (on a white or gray/neutral part of the image)  either in Raw Refine  or the image editor? Might be a work around while waiting for dcraw?

I tried to remove the cast as suggested but no luck there, I'm afraid.... For me, the wait is not a problem as I use Qimage only for printing JPEG images converted from RAW in LR. The JPEGS are unaffected. Thanks for the suggestion
