Hi all,
I'm new to Qimage, so please bear with me on this. I've gone through the videos, played around with the settings, but I just can't seem to get this to work:
I have an image, and the original image size is 16.5 wide x 10.9 high (so it's landscape orientation, and the thumbnail displays it as that too). I am trying to print on my Canon's ipf6300 with a 24" roll paper. Now, whenever I click on Print Properties icon to place the image on the queue, whatever size I choose, it always comes out portrait orientation. When I click on 'fit to page', the image always comes out portrait orientation, with the 10.9 (original image size) fitted to the 24 inch wide side of the print.
I would actually like to have the 16.5 wide side of the print fit to the 24" inch width of the paper (and the height remains proportionate). How do I do that?
Please help!

What size is the page? 24.0 x what? I just told user defined to make me a page 24.0 x 11.5. Then I told Qimage to make me a custom print size of 16.5 x 10.9 (auto crop on) Works perfectly. See screen snap Additionally, you can use Custom, telling Qimage the long side (16.5) and it will find the short side. (Just another way to do it.) Fred |

I think I see what you are trying to do. I take it what you want to do is size by the long side and have the short side calculated. QU has an option for that. Look above the preview page and find the actual width of the printable area (of your paper). It probably won't be 24.0 but will be something like 23.766. Write down that number: let's say your printable width is 23.766. Then when you select a thumbnail to add (or an existing print), click on the size button, select "Custom", and then select "Specify ONE dimension". Then to the right of that, put your number (23.766 in our example) in where it says "Size of the side you know" and under that, check "This is the LONG side". Click OK and you're done.
If QU still places the print on the page in portrait, it's only because it determined that is the most efficient way to place it (probably because TWO would fit along the width that way). If so, just click on that print's "Print properties" button on the preview page and then click one of the green "rotate print" buttons on the print properties dialog to rotate it the way you want. You can also right click on the print to "Set Print Rotation" to do the same.

Hey Fred, thanks for the info, sorry for not clearly specifying what I wanted to achieve. Yup, Mike's got it. I wanted the original image width (16.5") to stretch to the width of the paper (24", or rather just under), and let the height to be stretched proportionately.
In fact, Mike, I think I found an easier way. I just clicked on Image Lock under the Preview Screen, and clicked on 'Fit to page' on the Print Properties box. Worked like a charm!
Just a couple of quick questions before I send it out to print. On print setup, I've selected the paper size 24x36, (because it's in roll form, the length or height can be anything), what would actually be the appropriate page size if I'm dealing with roll formats or does it matter at all as long as the width is correct? Also, say the image is 24" wide x 15" high, will the print stop at 15" and do a cut right there, or will it assume that I wanted all the way to 36" (white space and all) and just feed the paper out all the way to 36"?

There should be a conserve paper check box in the print driver setup. This will cut after the print and save a bunch of paper. Hope you like your 6300, love mine.

Mike, got it thanks, just wanted to make sure that Qimage wasn't taking over that function. The printer? It's FANTABULOUS. I am absolutely in love with the 6300. I've been using Canson Infinity's range of papers and canvases. |

I've been using Canson Infinity's range of papers and canvases. Mike, I just found out after searching in the forum (and wasting 2+ft of paper  . When printing using the IPF print plug-in in Photoshop, the page setup has the option to click on 'conserve paper by removing white spaces on the top or bottom', but using Qimage, you need to right click on the Preview Screen, then click 'Remove White Space at Bottom of Page', otherwise it'd print the entire preview page size. |

Mine works thru the print driver because I don't use the Photoshop plug in. I use multiple programs to develop my pictures so it is easier for me just to print from Qimage. I set up my driver thru Qimage and that is when I tick conserve paper. Glad you got it figured out.
