Hi, OK Fred I no you answer here regular so that is why I am posting tghis here.
Received an email today offering a software called Qimage One but as as far as I can see it has nothing to do with Qimage from Mike? Maybe I am wrong and missing something but if not seems to me to an improper use use of the Qimage name? Thanks Russ.

Forgive any typos as I left my glasses in the bedroom.

Qimage One is a new program written by our own Mike Chaney in cahoots with another pretty smart guy named Andrew. He can be addressed as AWILFORD on the forum.

The object of Qimage One (or Q-1) was to accomplish two goals; create a Qimage quality printing program that was easier to use, and to have it run on an Apple/Macintosh computer. and a PC.
People that want to work their images in their editor of choice and then want to PRINT with excellence.

It will be improved with extra features as requests roll in and needs arise.

The main point at this time is that the QUALITY of the prints through the Fusion interpolator is still number one on the planet.

Hope this sheds some light.

Fred

Looks impressive. The big question for me, as a new user about to buy QImage ultimate (running demo now), is which should I buy? Is One the successor to Ultimate?  If Ultimate is still the top dog version, what are the feature differences between the two?  Thanks.

I downloaded and installed  One. It seems like ultimate with a subset of Ultimate's features, and looks far more focused on printing rather than editing.  are there any differences under the hood?

Appreciated. While my question really pertained to the key feature differences, by using both, it seems that One is a subset of Ultimate.

What I am trying to accomplish is not buying into an end of life product.  For example, if Ultimate is going end of life and there will be a Q Image One Ultimate soon. Also, if One is on a parallel development path and there have been improvements made that won't be included in the legacy Ultimate path.

I'm pretty sure QU is unlikely to be dying soon.Q One was, I believe was produced  to help MAC users particularly to save them running a special Windows system on their MAC's. Most of them would use other software to process images but Windows users with QU have the advantage of a sophisticated raw processing and editing system as well as full set of features for printing.
Let me mention some advantages of using QU:
Deep focus sharpening for raw image processing and editing as well as printing.
The ability to add Print filters, useful say, if your profile is not performing quite as you'd like it - increase saturation, fill shadows a little, tweak colour balance.
Print mattes = uneven borders, I don't think Q1 has that yet.
Load and re-name images from your memory card.
Albums, Database.

Terry - Q1 does have deep focus sharpening. Not sure if the 1st version did, but it does now!

Yes it has had DFS from the beginning. I was referring to the basic RAW image sharpening during their processing.

Ultimate and One are two separate products that will both continue forward.  Qimage One will never "morph" into Qimage Ultimate, rendering Qimage Ultimate obsolete.  Both are aimed at different audiences.  Qimage One has one thing in mind: photo printing.  Ultimate is the same as One, except with "extras" that cater to high volume and demanding printing environments.  The analogy of Ultimate vs One is similar to Photoshop vs Elements.  While both will continue to grow, One is not slated to "catch" Ultimate and replace it and Ultimate will continue with unique features like flash card copy/move, image conversions, databasing/searching, basic image editing (filters), more interpolation methods, hot folders, photo mats, and other such features.

While we are still adding some important photo printing features to Qimage One which will narrow the gap slightly between One and Ultimate, both One and Ultimate help feed one another moving forward.  That is, operational simplicity is a staple of Qimage One which feeds into the Qimage Ultimate UI, and technological advancements in print quality and features from Qimage Ultimate also feed back into Qimage One.  That relationship helps both products improve!

Regards,
Mike

I am finding a feature list of QI one hard to find. Does one exist?

Just installed demo version.
Does it have ALL the printing features of Ultimate like poster, canvas wraps etc. From what I can see it can auto poster (not predefined but that may work well enough) but I cannot find canvas wraps.

Q-1 is a simpler- no frills program to give you the same print quality as Qimage Ultimate, but less gadgetry to complicate the job.
If you need wraps or the Custom screen, you will need Ultimate
