Title: RawCache folder: safe to not backup?
Post by: clinchfield on August 22, 2019, 12:57:26 AM
In order to save space on my backup drive and cloud storage, is it safe to not back up the RawCache folder?

I don't understand the folder's function but I don't think I'm using whatever QU feature is associated with it. It contains images from only four dates and those dates are almost a year old.

Yes.  That is used only to speed up raw processing.  If you delete everything in that folder, QU will just have to rebuild raws from scratch as you visit each folder.  The only negative effect is it taking longer to build thumbs the first time you visit each folder with raw photos.

I appreciate the reply.

The Plugins\Export folder is even larger. If I should lose that folder does it mean I would no longer be able to use the Job Log to reprint past jobs? If yes, is there any practical way or workaround to minimize the size of the Export folder? It's already at 12 GB and I'm a relatively new user.

Thank you!

Correct.  There is no way to reprint jobs exported from PS/LR unless the exported images are saved.  The option to delete based on age can be useful but other than backing up the folder and restoring images when you need to print an old job, there is no way to ensure the ability to print old jobs that contain prints from PS/LR using the plugins.
