Pictures are not overlapped, using a previously made template. Sending attachment, hope it works. How do you make those snaps?

Fred, to further complicate the issue, after restarting the computer, opened Qimage, loaded the job, same problem remains. Further, having two picture on each page, the top picture's text can't be selected, bottom OK. Can't think of anyother information to give you other than there are 41 photos and 21 pages.

Don,
From the above quote from your message, it sounds like (two pictures on each page; top picture's can't be selected, but the bottom one is OK) you have a top and a bottom picture. Therefore one must be over the other to be on top or the bottom.
Are they side by side?

Can you explain from the beginning?
You are using what size paper, and making what size prints, two on a page.
You are using a template!   Was the text part of the template and now you want to edit the text?

Don,
Here are two snaps of side by side, using a template with preset text.
In this example, the text is set to IMAGE #.
As each image is added, the numbers increment automatically!
See two pages I show with a total of 4 images. The text adjusted itself on each image.

I will have to go out soon, but Terry will take over.

Paper size is 8.5x11. I am using a template, not containing text, for 3.5x5 in. photos. The two photos are placed vertically on the sheet, each in a landscape format with approx. 1" margin all around. The floating text is added underneath each photo in the margin. If I knew how to make those nice snaps I would include one. I cannot think of any additional information to furnish.

Don,
You can make screen shots with Greenshot;

It's very late now here in the UK so I'll have to leave any further advice for now.

Don,
Going back a couple of steps.
Quote
will the text be deleted if I remove the picture from the queue?
It depends.
If you have 2 images on a page and the text is not linked to either, and you remove 1 image, any text will remain on the page.
If you remove both images then the text will disappear.
If the text is linked and the image is removed, then the text will go too.
NB. If you right click on an image on the page and select Floating text from that menu, the text will be linked automatically.

Going back to the original query;
Quote
Trying to click on the dot above the text only resulted in getting the crossed-arrows to move the picture.
I have had that happen on a few occasions; I think it occurs when the text dot is very close to the image. As far as I remember, I moved the image out of the way, repositioned the text, then put the image back where I wanted it, then modified/positioned the text. Also closing and re-opening the page editor can solve it.

I'll try to reproduce the problem later.

Don,
I think I am able to reproduce what you describe.
I can lose the text and am left with a dot. the text control dot.

If you look at the three screen snaps, you can see the text hiding below the page.
By the way, just for the record, you cannot fit two 3.5 x 5.0 images with a one inch border on that paper size.
So the images are 7.0 x 5.33 including a 1 inch border.
Qimage Ultimate is smart enough to resize the prints to fit.

If you place your text on the image border, and then change size, switch to regular border from + border, or resize in any way, the text resizes too and the location is off.
Bear in mind that the vertical dimension is maxxed out to the printable area of the paper.
So my two prints fit tightly against each other, and there is *NO* room for the text to slide off the bottom of the lower image. It hides itself.

So you need to get you print size set and the prints located as you want them to be, and add text last.
You can move the text around, but not off the paper edge.

Since you are not using a template with prewritten text, why use a template, and what size did you make the template?
If you use a template at 3.5 x 5, two will not fit on a page.

So there's still a tiny piece of information askew.

We are getting close, I think!!

If I said border I meant margin, meaning paper space around pictures. I will try to send a snap using the software that Terry mentioned. In changing position of picture and bringing the problem to the bottom of the page I now have the little hand to edit the text. As you can see, I had two test entries and could not remove or position either one. Hope to have some success now. Still, any photo in the upper half of the page will not allow text editing.

Hard to tell, but it looks like you have two texts on top of each other. I am guessing because of the double red control dots.
Why not put all the text you need in one text box even if it needs three lines.

I believe I mentioned earlier that the second text happened when I tried to edit the first. Consequently, I had two which I couldn't delete because the little hand wouldn't appear.

The issue now has been reduced to the top photo's text on all pages cannot be edited. Photos on the bottom are OK. There is no difference between photo's selected or not selected.

Ok lets, clear up a few items.

Do you use templates or not.? I have your messages that say yes and the screens seem to show no.
I have tried everything to make a problem.
I have been talking to Terry in an effort to repeat what you are telling us, and so far, neither of us can make a problem.

You say you have a 1 inch "margin" around your prints.  I don't get that.
There appears to be some piece of information that is missing for me to replicate.

Unless you can perhaps, do a step by step... starting from opening QU, I cannot find anything or make anything go wrong!

I open QU and set my print size to 5,0 x 3.50.
Step two, I click the plus sign on the two images to put them into the queue.
Now I want to rotate them so they are horizontal pictures on a portrait sheet.

I freely admit that I am not an advanced user of QU. I started my project using templates, what is it you see that indicates I may not be using templates? It is possible I have a mishmash QU features in-advisably used and that is why you can't duplicate the issue but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Perhaps it would be better is I scrapped this project and start over, having learned from it.
