Morning, afternoon, evening all ... Smiley

Just installed latest Qimage Ultimate on a fresh install of Windows 7 and have been pulling my hair out whilst trying to print from .ARW files.

It looks like the output is an ultra low resolution version of the actual photo, the jpg image is fine but the RAW file is just low res blocky.

I'm sure it must be me as I would expect numerous hits when searching for the answer.

My older RAW files form my Nikon (.NEF) seem to work ok.

If I click on the refine button on the thumb nail it shows it ok ..

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Hard to determine what the actual complaint is when you say it wont print ARW. Based on the rest of the message, I think you mean the ARWs look lousy on screen.
Qimage uses some smaller low resolution JPGS for the sake of screen speed. Since there are so many varying screen resolutions and processor speeds, plus Operating systems, the user can set his own Qimage thumbs.
Before I get into setting the thumb quality and size, these settings will adjust the main screen Live View, the Page editor and the thumb nail view.
Click VIEW menu, top left.. Scroll down to THUMB SIZE and set to Large.   Scroll again to THUMB QUALITY and set to BEST.
You should be fine. Let us know.
See snaps below. The last one is a screen snap of my friend in an ARW shot. Clean as can be

Thanks Fred, but i'm afraid that was how i had it set up.

If i have 2 photos one JPG and one ARW in one folder, the JPG displays and prints ok .. the ARW initially displays ok but then changes into a ultra low res thumb nail and prints as an ultra low res.

I also have an error message pop up telling me the ARW file is not supported and will be excluded.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times just in case.

I don't usually have these problems btw ... :-)

Sorry about the problem.
Sounds like it boils down to either a corrupt ARW file. (Try some others) or the best way would be to send your ARW to me.
My email   wathree.ssz@verizon.net.
I just sent you one via WE TRANSFER. It is free, and you can send yours to me the same way.

Thanks again Fred ...

I've sent a file that won't play ball .. I wonder if I have a conflict somewhere as if I delete the files and cache and start from scratch the photo appears ok then about 5 to 10 seconds later it degrades.

Please let me know if the image displays / prints ok.

Many thanks.

You are describing Qimage creating the cache file and the jpg.
Are you sure the settings are correct for BEST quality and size?
I wish I had you file here.

Phew ... glad you could see the problem I'm having.  Smiley

The image is fine in PhotoShop CS6, Capture One and Luminar so I'm hopeful its an easy fix.

Fingers crossed ..

Thge only thing I see as a possibility is that my image was processed with a different version of Sony's raw developer.
Can you possibly take the raw image from the card into a folder and let Qimage open it without the SONY software getting to it first?

OK Mike found the problem.  He is fixing it now.
It was in the built in lens correction, and I presume that kicked in on a lens that you have that didn't need that.
Anyway, new version to the rescue, and thanks for your patience.

Just emailed you my rendition of your gorgeous pup. I leave it to you if you want to share it with the forum.
When you get the new "fixed" version, remember to rebuild thumbs for the affected images. Just select, and right click the thumbs, and click on rebuild selected.....
That picture of yours made my day!!!
Thanks,
Fred
