Fred,

Maybe Mike and Corel both could use a marketing pitch like: "Our program allows you to use more 'uncropped' space of your sensor than Adobe and all others do which give your images a big megapixel haircut."  Cheesy

Or I might use it to annoy my club's D800 users with:  "Oh yeah?  Well my more expensive D800E has 0.23 megapixels more than your cheaper D800 does.  So Neener.  Neener!"  Grin

...maybe not the best ideas...

Please excues me if this is in the wrong area. I'm only an occasional forum contributor.
I trialed Ultimate and after a couple of days realised I had to own it.
After the purchase of earlier this week I have a reasonable handle on basic functions and have assembled 10 pages inc 11 images.
My problem is if I change the orientation of either the sample page or a new page, the thumbnails in the browers flicker and "QImage.exe has stopped working" appears and I have no choice but to close the program.
Curious also why when I click on page 10 and Insert New Page, the new page becomes page 10 and page 11 has the last image. I would expect the new blank page to be page 11.
I think the program was a great find. I get a kick out of taking the captured image through to the printed page.
My system is Win 7 64 bit, I Core 7, Nvidia Quadro 600, 16 G RAM if that helps.

Hi John....
Can we get some screen snaps of your main screen so we can see exactly what teh settings were, with regard to thumb size and qualuty...
Also the Properties box so we can see the placement selected.?
The object is to try to replicate your setup.
... and hopefully repeat what you get.

Sometimes there's not enough room to post attachments here, so ig you can send them to me email, that would be fine.

Email:   wathree.ssz@verizon.met

How many images to a page? What size prints?   Auto placed my Qimage or manually placed?

Thanks,
Fred

OK John, I just tried to emulate...
Using one 8 x 10 print to a page (8.5 x 11 paper size)  (since you said you had 11 images in the 10 pages and one page of two 5 x 7s,

I add 9 images to the queue, and then two more at 5 x 7.
So I have 10 pages and 11 images.

Now I right click on the image in the preview panel, upper right, and select Insert Page!
No matter what number page is open to view, any image I add becomes the last page.
So to clarify, if I am looking at page 4, and I invoke INSERT PAGE, and add an image, the new image becomes page 11 and follows the page with the two 5 x 7s.

So please correct my workflow to match yours.

Are you trying to insert a page with an image (that you forgot) in between other existing pages?
There's a very easy way to do that.

As for crashing.... no sign of it here when I change page orientation from any screen.

So last question, how long has it been installed on your computer.?
Reason for the question is this:
Some installations are corrupted by the download and install having to fight through an over aggressive Anti virus program. The results are usually erratic operation or locking up at times.
If you have it a few days, try disabling teh Anti Virus program for a few minutes, make a fresh download, and a fresh install. See if that fixes the lock up.

Waiting to hear from you.

That's the way it works, inserts BEFORE the page you started from.
Now, if you wanted to place an image on that new blank page, you must set the placement method to Freehand before inserting the page and than drag the new image to that page.
However, there are easier ways of adding an image in the middle of the queue.
Add the new image by double clicking the thumb, it goes to the end. Then open the Queue tab (shows list of images in text form) and drag the new image to where you want it.
There is another way using the Page Editor but I'll leave that for now.

Hello Fred, I tried to e-mail twice last night, but they bounced.
I have attached a screenshot. I installed only two days ago. I have redownloaded and reinstalled the default printer driver as well.
At your suggestion I turned off my AV and uninstalled, redownloaded and reinstaled. I opened the troublesome layout, but no change to the orientation problem causing shutdown.
I then started afresh with a new layout.
With a handful of images, either 2x per page as attached or full A4 borderless the page rotation works fine. All images auto arranged.
I save as a Layout at this point and continue adding images from the browser hitting the + on the image. I get to around 20 pages, mostly single borderless A4s, and it goes bad. Attempt to rotate a page and again kapput.
I then reopen my small layout of 4 pages and all is fine. It seems that as I add more images, borderless or not, at some point I will not be able to rotate the page without the flickering of the browser thumbnails and the shutdown.
As I compose this response, I've thrown lots of images, without any editing, into a layout as 2.5"x3.5", around 10 pages autoarranged. They respond to the orientation no problem. I then select a page at a time and turn them into A4 borderless. Still no problems. I now have 38 pages and no problems.
The only difference between this layout and the troublesome one is no QI edits and the way I've added the pages.
I'll start over AGAIN, with the edited images, adding as I have just done and see how I go.
Thanks for reading.
If anything seems wrong on this end, please get back to me.
Terrys response was that the Insert Page behaviour is normal. That's all I need to know on that one.

PS. I did say I'm not a forum contributor. Please excuse me again if I've messed this post up.

John,
Sorry to hear you are still having crash problems and I cannot suggest anything at present except it's PC/Windows problem.
As I understand it, the problem of crashing occurs after you have edited a set of images and added to the queue. What edits are you applying to the images? QU applies edits as a filter to an image in a specific sequence and some of them can take more time than others, depending on your computer's resources. You do seem to have plenty form what you say in the first post. For now, a work-round would be to limit the number of images in the queue and save as a Session, then repeat.
I've have just added 81, 18Mpx RAW images to the queue, all with edits, at 7x5, then changed them all to 4x3 and then to 10x8. No problems at all.
One small point;

I save as a Layout at this point
It's probably better to save as a Session or even a Job. Layouts are really designed for making Templates without any actual images.

John,
I've tried to repeat everything you said over here, not a hint of a problem
I do see something that makes me wonder.
Why are you using CUSTOM LONG side is 8.265?
TRY using FIT TO PAGE crop scissor OFF instead!
See if that fixes the crash...

If not,  see if there's an updated Video Driver for your video card.

In addition, if you wanted to use LONG side is ...... wouldn't you say 10.766 or whatever it says above the preview panel for the longer side printable area?

Try that too.

Richard,

Did something change as I requested 105 using the same procedure as before?
Did you click Help About and then update now? That should initiate the e-mail to download the new version.
Also, if you are still running v104, a notification will appear in the title bar at the top; clicking that also opens the Help -About.
Terry

Thanks Terry, don't know what I did but followed your directions and now have the upgrade.
