Congratulations on the 20 years Mike. You have a lot to be proud of with your excellent software and support. I'm sure, like me, many hundreds (thousands) of Qimage users are grateful for your making top quality printing software affordable.

I've had a cursory look at the new interface and I can see it's improved functionality.

One thing I've noticed is that the thumbnails appear to be larger, and now even the "small" size setting is larger than preferred for the new layout on my screens.  Update: see my reply to Fred, below.

Cheers and thanks.

Peter

Mike,

Congratulations, a fine upgrade for a 20th Anniversary celebration!
QUAlity; maybe the right time for an extra extension to Qimage Ultimate?

One suggestion; the Mark Edges and Print File info menu entrances shifted to the Prints menu?
They fit better there is my gut feeling. I often add 0.5mm +border plus mark corners and cut slightly within the marks.
Whether the Print filters should go there too is harder to say, they affect the image itself and relate more to processing and printer settings but the crop filters.

Anyway, I like this upgrade right from the start.

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst

Peter,
I believe that Mike was making a sort of introductory video for new people that have never used QU before.
My screen is so much different.... Something about his video dimensions?
Let me make one that shows my screen. Be 30 minutes.

Thanks very much Fred. You are right, the "flip/flop" function is good.

I had viewed both of Mike's 2018.100 introductory videos before posting.

For my use, I don't need to see high detail in the thumbnails because 99% of the time I printing from a folder containing TIFFs that were exported soley for printing from my primary processing software. Hence I don't need to distinguish similar images and prefer to see more thumbnails at a time. I think I previously had the size set to "medium" and with 2018.100 I set to "small"  in an attempt to get the preferred thumbnail size.

Update: I now see what was happening. The thumbnail size changes slightly with position of the divider. I can get my preferred thumbnail size by adjusting the divider position.

Easy Rani,
He will read your post and his hat will never fit again. His chest is so puffed out, no shirt either.

Hi Ernst,

Thanks for the praise and glad you are enjoying the update.  I can see those options being valuable on the Prints tab.  The reason they are on the Printers and Settings tab is that they affect the job as a whole; they are not per-print settings which I keep on the Prints tab.  There's also not much room for them on the Prints tab because you have to keep the minimum monitor resolution requirements in mind: 1024x768 is the minimum.

Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Firstly like others congrats on 20 years, Seems like i've used it forever but the oldest installer i have archived is q08-205 Smiley

Love the UI update

Now for what is to me a MAJOR pain (bug) in the backside. QU does not initially remember which monitor it was last used on and always starts the splash screen on monitor 1 and then throws a monitor profile error..... once you get rid of the dialogs the main UI then opens up on the expected screen.

This also occurs in 2017 version as well but i've only just gone over to a new photo edit setup with a large 55" screen and hence screens with different profiles.

I hope that makes sense.
cheers

I'd like to add my congratulations to Mike for his excellent, and my favourite, program. I tried to work out when I started using it and it was probably at work when we were using Photoshop V7, which was 2002!
I love the new layout, but just one thing (which is me being thick), I can't find the Add Crop Marks/Mark edges/etc dialog box.

Hi Brian,
Good morning.
The crop marks / info boxes are at the bottom of the Printers and Settings screen.

Fred
PS I think it has been there all along.

Ernst made the suggestion to put those on the Prints tab instead.  The mark edges, print file info, etc. are on the Printers and Settings tab because that's where I keep options that affect the whole job.  The Prints tab contains options that can be changed on a per-print basis.  Seems clean to me to keep that split between "job options" and "print options".

But by similar logic, those options do affect "prints" even if they do affect all prints at once, so I guess they could go either place.  Let's see what people prefer.  Just reply here if you have a preference: do you think print file info, mark edges, global filter, and print filter would be easier to work with on the "Printers and Settings" tab (where they are now), or the "Prints" tab?  If you have a preference, please reply either way because if only the people who would rather have it moved reply, I won't know what the consensus is.

I can easily put them either place... although there is more room where they are now.

Regards,
Mike
