I tried to start QU and the window opened to ask if I wanted QU to use the new Monitor Profile.  I replied yes.  A small yellow rectangle opened which read Please Wait.

Nothing happened for over 15 minutes.  I tried again...same thing.  I downloaded current update QU20-116.exe, turned off my antivirus and installed the update.  Even tried to NOT use new Monitor Profile.

Still locked on the yellow rectangle.

Any Suggestions?  I used it a month ago with no problems. Using Win 7

Doug

Doug,
For the sake of this discussion, I will assume that you are getting the screen that asks if youwant to run a monitor profile  in QU.
This pops open when you installed QU in a new computer, or have a new monitor. Windows runs a default monitor profile. Many of us use a selected monitor profile in QU. Many profile their monitors and use that in QU. Some, use a profile that came with the monitor and place that into the MONITOR profile box in QU. Some use the current sRGB.icc that is in our color folder.
So when QU opens it sees the profiles and asks what you want QU to use for the monitor. I use, let QU use xyz even though Windows is using a default other one. Then everone is happy. It even says something to the effect that QU will ask you every tme unless.....
I dont have the alert handy, but to that effect. See screen snap showing the display monitor in QU

I Profile my monitor every month.  That is not the problem.  The problem is a yellow rectangle in the middle of my screen that reads Please Wait...and Nothing Happens.  Qimage does not open.

I'm going to try a to restart and see if that shakes things loose.

Thanks

Rebooted...nothing
Uninstalled...reinstalled...Still nothing

Any suggestions on why this program suddenly stopped working and only shows "Please wait"... in yellow rectangle in middle of my screen?

I have to go to Task Manager to close down.  Task Manager says program is running.  But again, only the yellow rectangle.

There is likely a corrupted image in the folder it is trying to open.  Try holding the shift key while you start QU and that should get you out of it.  Then you can examine the images in the folder to determine which one won't read.  This usually happens as a result of a bad header in the image that tries to perform some operation that is not trapped by the error detection.

Mike
