#2 is for sheet printing; not sure how much of that you do.  I got enough requests from customers to give an easy way to size and center by an equal paper border.  That is, you want to fill the paper minus a half inch border or 1/4 inch border or 5 or 10mm on all sides.  This just gives you an easy way to do that without having to do the math of subtracting twice the border value from both dimensions and setting the placement to IntelliCenter.  It's not something I use since my print size is typically more important than the paper size but I guess if you are doing gallery prints or you want some empty/unprinted "slack" around the edges for handling, it comes in handy.

Hi Mike,

Under V2020.121 I am getting an unsupported file type error on a 16bit uncompressed Tiff test file I had printed routinely in the past.
It seems to be related  to #8 in the "Files will be excluded if they:"

#8) Are more than 100,000 pixels on either edge

If I reduce the file from 13,465 pixels (18.7" @720 dpi) to 9,999 pixels it builds the thumbnail
But this is off by a decimal place from the #8 specification

Thanks,
Larry

Nothing has changed with regard to TIFF loading.  What are both resolution values?  I'm unable to calculate memory requirements with only one dimension.  Also, how are you getting a 720 PPI file: it sounds like you are resampling in another program which is a general no-no.

Hi Mike,

The file is a composite of original image data (16bit Roman16 licensed files, eciRGB V2) resized, not resampled to 720
File dimensions is 9,000 x 13,465 @ 16Bit

I get the same unsupported results on two PCs, one with 8 GB RAM, the other with 64GB

I just noticed that the Information display for the unsupported file ends with (4).
If that relates to the 1-8 issues, then 4 in the list of issues = Are zero bytes in length

Perhaps this is a Windows 10 update issue and related to the GicleePrinter tiff issue post.

Regards,
Larry

Qimage can certainly handle that size.  Can you upload the file to Google Drive or any other file sharing service and send a link?  If you're not comfortable posting it here, you can send me a direct message here so only I see the link (or email it).  It sounds like there is something about that TIFF that makes it an unsupported format but I'd have to look at the file.

Hi Mike,

Thought I had PM'd you the file but perhaps not.

I did some further testing of the troublesome file. It's 16bit tiff with 4 layers: 2 Text (upper layers) and 2 Graphics (1 and 0)
If I merge the 2 graphic layers and resave (3 layers), the thumbnail renders and the file will print.

I'm not sure if it's working because of the fewer layers or reduced file size: 2,585,938 KB to 1,664,844 KB

A 16 bit file of that resolution should be 727MB so it seems you still probably have an extra layer in there.  While QU can load images up to 2GB, it is best to limit file size to 1GB so there is room if you apply filters, rotate prints, crop, etc.

Mike
