Hi guys and gals,
I love the new QU version, and found a new item and a removed one.
It's a bit techie, so ignore this if it doesn't fit.
I am referring to the removed "padlock" from the top of the old screen. It's job was to allow you to set anything and everything in QU and 'lock' it so QU always opens that way every time.
Mike has simplified the whole operation by adding an extra selection in the FILE menu;
It is based on the understanding that QU will now open with all the settings that are present when you closed.

So I don't really need a lock.... a safety feature in that  option allows you recover settings from yesterday, or a Special peronal default tat you set up by  setting everything you like to open in QU; borders on? Paper type, print size, everything you can think of to turn on or off...... and click  SAVE MANUAL SETUP NOW.
That's it.
I love it. I have one setup with Luster paper and another makes QU open with Semi gloss or matte.i Set two neat borders for a print... see screen snaps. I close QU and open later, borders are remembered along with auto crop auto rotate on/off and much more..
Nice tool.

I am sorry, but i am completely Disagree about removing padlock button.Was very compatible,just lock everything and forget about. I am using 80% off the time same paper, same settings, like rendering intent color profile,size.... and so on ,but some times i use different media and change everything accordingly. After i am done printing,just close QI , and not worry about my next printing session , because i know my default settings is always LOCK. I am completely understand way around this new features, but i think that padlock button was very convenient way to protect us from mistakes, we all humans . ALEX

You can still do that: get the settings the way you want and use the manual save option one time and forget about it.  Then if/when you make a mistake and you forget to use "File", "Exit without saving settings" after doing something you didn't really want Qimage to remember, you can load your manually saved settings at any time.  That lock button was a nuisance!  People would click it and not realize what it was and then I'd get emails: "Why does Qimage start with a quarter inch red border every time I open it... and I have to clear it every time?  I thought it was supposed to remember what you did last?"  Then I'd have to explain they clicked the settings lock and locked in those settings.  And then there are the times when people would end up with a corrupted printer setup, Windows would remove or change their printer driver, etc. and Qimage would start but their printer driver wouldn't work properly: they'd fix it by redoing the settings in Qimage but the "bad/corrupted" settings were locked and they'd come back next start.

The new Save/Restore Settings menu options can do the same thing as the lock with even more flexibility, and without leading users down a path where they get locked into something they don't want and can't figure out how to get Qimage to "remember" their latest settings again.

Thank you Mike . What you explains i know and use all the time.I do Printing for living and use your supper nice software for over 10 years and loved!!!For Me that lock button was convenient any way. Of coarse i use safe setting ,combination of Paper,canvas,and any every think i have to save and recall lather. I just GET use to it to start Qimage whit my most use combination without recalling my  set up, but completely understand your point. Thank you for supporting and continuing make Qimage outstanding .

Understood.  Here's another insider tip... If you hold the shift key when you close QU, it will not save any settings.  So if you've done some playing and you did some one-off stuff you don't want carried to the next session, just hold the shift key and click the usual "X" to close QU.  It's a bit faster than using "File", "Exit without saving settings".
