Title: custom profiles in Qimage running Parallels on a Mac
Post by: allanrube on April 11, 2010, 02:17:00 PM
I am assuming I can use custom profiles installed in Windows 7 while using Qimage on a Mac running Parallels. Is that correct?

Why not download the 30 day free trial, and see for yourself? http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/downloads.htm

Best wishes,

Oh, my post confused you. I already own and am running Qimage through Parallels. I also having been using stock Epson profiles. I asked Eric Chan who has written a lot about my printer (3880 Epson) and creates profiles whether his profiles would work with Qimage through Parallels. He did not know the answer but suggested I ask here before purchasing profiles from him.

If it works on earlier versions of Windows then it should work on W7.
The web site says:
    *  Fully compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98, 95
    * Use Virtual PC or Parallels to run on a Mac.  Also runs under Linux/Wine.

I never tried using custom profiles before with any version of Windows. So I don't know if it worked with XP, ME, 95 etc.

An icc profile is a icc profile except for various  versions of the ICC standard but I would not expect there to be a problem in that area.

As long as OS X Colorsync doesn't interfere with the CM of Windows there shouldn't be a difference to using Chan's profiles in a plain Windows/Qimage environment. One would expect that Parallels avoids that interference. Then the question remains whether Chan's (B&W?) profiles act the same as in the application Eric Chan uses. He doesn't use Qimage. I have had some odd results with QTR B&W profiles in Qimage but never used Chan's profiles.
