I have a set of 39 images that I am batching printing to file using qImage. I am having difficulty getting through the entire batch due to intermittant error message:
"Cannot open file XXXXX. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

I could not find any other tasks that are running that could cause issue. One thing I did try that seems to work, is to disable quad core processing and switch to single core. I can try experimenting some more, but figured I would ask the experts first prior to spending more time on this.

Equipment specifics:
- HP quad core, 8gig memory, Windows 7 Ultima
- Qimage Studio Edition v2010.100

Is'nt this a Windows fault, windows has the file logged as being used, there is a way to unlog it, but I will have to leave that to the experts.

Sounds typical of what antivirus/antimalware products sometimes do.  Since they try to scan files as they are being created, they often "step on" other programs as they are trying to create files.  Try disabling all antivirus/antimalware software and retry.  If it works, you can create an exclusion.

Antivirus software is probably it. I recently changed to a different antivirus product (bitdefender). I'll give your suggestions a try tonight.
Thanks.

There are 'free' file unlockers, that may solve your problem. I use this one - http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ but I've never had this problem with qimage.
Best wishes,

Disabling the antivirus software while batch printing did the trick.
Thanks.

I just saw the posting of release 101 of qimage. Based on description, it appears that it may fix my batch processing issue I encountered running on Windows 7. It would be great if I did not have to disable my antivirus. I'll cross my fingers when I try it tonight.

I think Mike does deserve a nice christmas gift. From a product support standpoint, I have found qimage to be one of the best supported products I have. I've been a user for god knows how many years and am very impressed with the constant updates to the software without forcing me to pay an annual charge for upgrades. Much thanks Mike!

The only problem I've had with QI printing to file is if I browse the folder that contains the images being processed by QI, the print to file will then fail, I assume it's because File manager / Windows Explorer is also accessing the files at the same time as QI.  I don't know if this is still an issue with Vista / Windows 7 as I stopped browsing the files when QI was printing back when I was using XP.
