in Photoshop CS3 so that the TIF file can be read by Qimage?

Simply save the Tif in a normal fashion being sure that you are saving with Interleaved pixel oerder, and IBM byte order when asked.

I don't see those options in CS3 but there is a box save 'Alpha Channels' which strips them out when unchecked.  I must have used that box a zillion times nd never noticed!

Attached are a couple of screen snaps that show the option box when saving as a TIFF, and the second shot is of the box that you see when saving as a PSD.
You can see the options for the TIFF and in case you save as a PSD, you must have that check in the Max Compatibility box.

Alpha channels are a NO-NO.
