Title: Qimage Changing Pictures Red
Post by: TomorrowHill on December 02, 2010, 07:31:38 PM
Hi Mike,

I've been using Q Image for over a year with great results, but recently I've been encountering a problem.

I have started using photoshop templates to create Christmas cards out of photos I've taken. While in Photoshop in pictures/templates look great, but when I open them in Q Image it changes the overall tone of the cards to red. This is especially true with skin color, as all subjects will look as though they've been badly sun-burned. The only way I can come close to correcting this issue is to drastically change the colors while in Photoshop and hope that the adjustments Q Image makes will now make the photo look normal, but this is very time consuming and rarely gives me accurate coloring.

Is there anything you can recommend to help fix this issue? Also, I am using a Spyder2express for color management profiles, if that matters.

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great day!

A couple of questions would help find the trouble.
When you see the reddish tone, in the thumbnails, or when you hover over a thumb and click space bar.?
What monitor profile are you using?
Have you tried printing the image. Is the print red?

What color space was used and saved with the file when you created it in PS?
Is the created card in JPG form? Is it saved as a PSD? If you make a JPG does it too show reddish? Can you email it?
Be happy to look.....  wathree.ssz@verizon.net

Hi Fred,

Thanks for your quick reply. To answer your questions:

-The reddish tone is in both the thumbnails and when I click on them for a larger size.
-I'm using the Spyder2express monitor profile.
-I have tried printing the image, and it prints as red as Qimage displays it
-I've tried saving it as both a JPG and PSD, and it turns red both ways.
-My Working space settings are:

RGB: SRGB Iec61966-2.1
CMYK: US web coded (swop) v2
Grey: dot gain 20%
Spot: dot gain 20%

Color Management Policies: Preserve imbedded profile.

Hope this helps. If you need anything else, let me know. I'll be hapy to email you one of the pictures in question if you still need more info.

Thanks so much!

Please email it. That would tell me a lot. I am not too good with Photo Shop other than to solve incompatibility issues if I have come across them in the past.
Let me see what I get here..
Please send!  Waiting

It's 3 1/2 hours since you said you would email the image.
Nothing here and no further post from you.
I can only guess that you found the problem and it is resolved.

Let us know if you still need help
