I'm having difficulties printing a 10.5 x 7 image on letter
size paper in Qimage Pro. I set the print size in the Print
Properties box to 10.5 x 10.5, which should maintain the
proper aspect ratio for my Rebel XT file. The printed image
ends up being 10.685 x 8.00(cropped), which is the size
shown in the queue window. I have letter size selected in
my Canon i950 printer driver.

I used to do this all the time, but it's been a long time since
I've used Qimage, and I'm obviously missing some steps.

Comments and/or suggestions appreciated.

You want to print 10.5 x 7.0 on 8.5 x 11 paper.
Should be simple.
You must open CUSTOM in the print properties box, and select Specific Size, typing in the 10.5 x 7.0 and OK out of the box.
Now you have the print size set.
Add your image to the queue.

I don't understand what you wrote about setting the print properties box:
I set the print size in the Print
Properties box to 10.5 x 10.5, which should maintain the

The aspect ratio of the Rebel image is 3:2.
That is the same as 10.5 x 7.0

All you really had to do is print any size print you want; 8 x 10, 5 x 7, 4 x 6, etc and leave the auto crop off.
The 3;2 image file will stay 3:2 in the print.

Years ago, when I asked Mike Chaney about how to maintain correct aspect ratio, without having to
calculate both dimensions( as in Photoshop), he instructed me to enter the longest dimension for both
dimensions, which allowed Qimage to auto-set the shorter dimension.

When I used to put 10.5 x 10.5 in the printing properties box, I would always end up with perfect
10.5 x 7 printed images on letter size paper. I can't do that anymore, so that's why I asked the
question.

Well, just call me stupid, Fred. I just checked the program and the Auto Crop button
was on. I turned it off and the image is showing the correct 10.5 x 7 size, so Mike's
instructions were correct.

I haven't run Qimage for quite a while, so I was right in suspecting that I had a missed
a step somewhere.

Thanks for your assistance.

I wish you would have mentioned that you were trying to use Specify one side dimension. Then I would have understood.

That's not stupid.
I'll tell you stupid. For more years than you would believe, I have been yelled at over what shirt and pants and socks I put on.
Stupid is thinking I should even try to dress myself without checking with *her* first.

Qimage questions are fun..

Fred - Where has the Start NEw Topic button gone? I badly need advice on "black point compensation" as it applies to a new printer profile I'm using with Q - but although I'm logged in, I don't see a New Topic button anywhere. Please reply to     wgh2005@twcny.rr.com     if possible. Thanks - Bill Hansen
