I am probably being thick here but is there any way to change the name of the job that Qimage outputs to my Z3100, currently they are just named by date and time which on the Z3100 menu comes up as for example '2009 8:34.09am' This makes it very difficult to reprint jobs from the printer as I have to note the time that they were sent.

Other progs such as PS send the file by filename e.g. print01.psd

Thanks

Is there any way you can explain what you see that Qimage is sending to the printer that makes you believe it is a JOB name?
If I recall a job in Qimage, Qimage will reset itself to all the parameters related to that print job, and put the images into the queue that were saved with the JOB save.
Qimage then sends the filenames  to the printer as you described from PS.
See the three screen snaps. The JOB selected Rodeo.
The actual image in the preview panel
The list of images that Qimage will send to the printer that are sitting in the queue. Thay are all filenames.

Andrew

It may be easier to recall the job in QImage, rather than from the printer.
Go to Edit>Preferences>Job Logging>Job File Naming and select 'Manual'. You will then get a dialog box with the option to name the job individually in the QImage log each time. You can then recall each job using Edit>Open Automatic Job Log in QI.

Sorryrather than Job name, I should have said document name - the print spool shows the document name as "Qimage 10/21/2009 10:20:30am" then the printer just lists it as "10/21/2009 10:20:30am" what I am trying to achive is the document name being descriptive - at the moment whether I save the job or not the document name is always Qimage followed by date/time.

I think I understand what you want, and if I am right, it's already there for you.
See screen snap of print job log.
Two days ago, I printed an 8 x 10, which was sent to the spool with a job name as you described. That is very descriptive as it contains date and time to the second so you can pick it out again.
But the good part is the log in Qimage shows what you want.  It is very descriptive showing the filename, all the printer settings, every minute detail of the print job.
I believe that is what you were looking for.
Just click FILE and auto job log, and scroll to the File name .... click, and there is all the info you need.

Fred,

Thanks for that - but it is not what I am after  the problem is on the jobs stored on the printer itself, not the queue. The z3100 stores the latest jobs on it's internal hard drive and I want to find a way for Qimage to name the document in the print queue so that it is descriptive on the printer. In that way, I press a button on the printer and can reprint the job without having to go back to the PC.

Aah. I see what you mean!
I have two thoughts.
Is there no way that HP allows for renaming since you say that the names are stored on an internal hard drive in the printer?
The second thought is to wait for Mike to read this, and see if he has any ideas to alleviate the issue.
