Do I have an incorrect setting in Qimage Ultimate?

Since you said "opening to Qimage..." maybe you mean you open them in Lightroom and then send them to Qimage with the plugin? That's the only way a .tif file will be created: Lightroom creates it when you export because it is the only way Lightroom can export images.
