Title: Camera Profile for Sony DSC RX10M4
Post by: rachlinent on February 16, 2019, 07:48:47 PM
Where do I view the camera profiles available in Q 2019-113?  And when will a profile for the RX10M be available?

Thanks Fred.  So a profile for this camera is not in Q.  Is that why the image description at the bottom shows the ICC as srgb.icm?  This is my first Sony I've used since I started with Q in '09 that this happened, so I was confused.

I think Mike has a way of making camera profiles if he can find some special test image on the internet for downloading shot by that camera in raw mode.
It has to be some test image.
I know that he does not do them one at a time. They have to be added to the new version. So he gets a few at a time and tacks them on to a new version.
Be patient.

I checked and I indeed have a Chart version pp-24.  So, if this is still the one that Mike uses I can Photograph it and send it to him.  I'll need up to date instructions since I failed to keep those as well.

In the mean time re-set you RAW preferences to Adobe RGB for a wider gamut than Srgb.
Go to Edit, Preferences, Raw Format Options and dot Adobe RGB in Working Color Space.
See attached screen shots.

Any update on this topic or should I not expect a profile to be developed?

I don't see one on the horizon for that camera.  Profiles are made as cameras are available for testing and we have access to mostly newer pro or prosumer models as they release.  The camera should produce color as the manufacturer intended without a profile.  Profiles generally make subtle color changes with the intention of making color a bit more accurate and also making color consistent between models.  You should be able to do quite well without a profile as most software doesn't offer custom profiles.

Mike

Every Sony I've used over the last decade has had a specific profile.  So do you suggest I use the settings Terry M sent on Feb 18?

Yes.  I would use the Adobe RGB settings in the raw options.
