I took delivery of a new custom built PC this week, quad core and all the works that go with it:
Intel Core i7 (950) 3.06GHz Processor , Quad Core , L3 Cache 8192KB
Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard : CrossFireX & NVIDIA SLI Support
6GB Kingston HyperX (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz Triple Memory.

After using my old P4, 3.6GHz machine, Qimage Ultimate is really flying now.
Not only are thumbs and cache built very quickly, the quad core means that caching carries on when I use another program at the same time.  Cool
Timings are:
Thumbs 0.5s/image
Raw Cache 1.9s/image
Total 2.4s/image.
So those of you who are hanging on with an old single processor PC or laptop, you know what to ask Santa to send for Christmas.  Grin
Do it soon!

That is fine and I am envious,  but I am still plodding on with old XP on P4 and vista on god knows what.

Trouble is printer drivers, my old printer has drivers for Win 98 and XP only, I have to network the XP to print anything on Vista or fanny about with sticks .  So get the latest all singing and dancing Comp also requires expense of a new printer and I am a mean sod at heart Smiley  I also have a scanner for win 98 only.

Terry,
Please let Jeff-G know when it is raining in his area of the UK.
He is saving for a rainy day.

Not only is QU flying, but it is skimming the debris from the top of this pond.
Easy Peasy, as someone had said on the forum a while back.

Method:   With image in the "Image Editor"  (Just double click the thumbnail), place your mouse pointer on a chunk to be removed.
Right click. This brings up the preview box which enlarges the area.
Place your mouse pointer in the center of the object and slowly drag from left to right.  If you get a round gray circle, ask your spouse which is your right hand; you went the wrong way.  Grin

Stop; do it again on another chunk.
If you mess up, simply click on that button in the auxiliary box, marked, DELETE LAST ROW, and then REFRESH.

To go from one chunk to another, simply right click in the big image on the next chunk you wish to remove.

Have fun...

I have a Canon 8400F scanner and there is a 64 bit driver for it, BUT .... it's no good for VueScan (scanning software) because there's "no 32 bit library in the driver" and even with the Canon software (64 bit version) the transparency adaptor does not work. That's something to do with the Windows interface which is different in 64 bit. I've loaded Vuescan onto my Vista-32 laptop and all works from there. Not very convenient.  Sad

Jeff,

Have you tried Vuescan software. I had an Epson scanner, which wouldn’t work with Vista and Vuescan worked fine.
