Title: Anti-virus recommendation Post by: MelW on January 12, 2023, 01:38:05 AM New computer. Thinking of trying a different anti-virus program. I remember from this forum that some of them didn't play nicely with QU updates. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

My experience was finally getting rid of AVG, and getting ESET NOD32 Works like a charm. Fred Title: Re: Anti-virus recommendation Post by: admin on January 12, 2023, 11:51:30 AM NOD32 all the way! Many AV programs these days have adopted a cry wolf policy where they mark everything "potentially malicious" if they haven't seen it before, giving a ton of false positives. This allows them to claim 100% detection but it is useless because it is always crying wolf and you never know what is really malicious versus the guilty-until-proven-innocent assumption. NOD32 has never slowed my computer down and never let me down. I use Malwarebytes as a backup/second option but only to do an occasional full scan: I don't let that run real time (in the background) as it is also one of the cry wolf programs that gives a fair number of false positives.
