Camcorder frame rates and video editing software

I live in Europe and recently bought an Xacti VPC-FH1 camcorder which records only at 60i or 30p whereas the PAL system here in Europe is 50i and 25p. I also bought Corel Video Studio Pro X2 video editing software. I have to install this software either in NTSC format or PAL format. So my question is this: Is it better to edit my videos in NTSC format which matches the 60i 30p of my camera and hope that my PAL HDTV can deal with the faster frame rate or should I edit my videos in PAL format because that is the format it will be viewed in? Or is it possible to convert NTSC format to PAL format either before or after before editing and would there be any advantage to doing so?

Yes, you can convert. There are a lot of free programs that will do so.
I would edit everything in the native format you have now. Sometimes (I ran into this in Iraq converting NTSC to PAL) everything isn't exactly converted. The biggest problem was having the video drop frames visibly. The biggest problem I had was audio syncing with the video. Not initially noticeable, but the longer the video the more it showed. It can be fixed but it's a different edit. Do the video first. BACK IT UP all along the way.
BTW--Depending on your final medium, there are multiple system players available. If you go that way you might just as well get one does SECAM also.
