Currently I run win vista ultimate and want to upgrade to win 7 ultimate.
What should i be mind full of when taking this step?

There's a free MS download that you run while in Vista, and it will advise of any conflicts or hardware that is incompatible.
I already dumped it, but I think the name was Windows 7 upgrade advisor. Just google it
If both are 32 bit or both are 64 bit, you should have smooth sailing.... but nothing is perfect.... have a big pot of coffee handy!
