Title: Wish List: a Linux version
Post by: Gian on April 03, 2010, 05:27:08 PM
hello All,

here's my 2c for a wish list: a native Linux version.

I try to avoid Win as a plague, but just can't do without Qimage.

Currently, I have a virtual XP that runs under Ubuntu Karmic, and that's how I use Qimage and the very few applications I need that won't run natively.

I have other commercial photo applications that run under Linux, such as Bibble for raw developing, and Vuescan for scanning, so it's not a money problem and neither a crusade for open source software.

I do appreciate the open source concept but I understand that software developer can have different points of view.

So, when shall we have a .deb package for Qimage?   ;-)

ciao,
-Gian

hi Ryan,

I stay on Ubuntu 10.04 because it's a LTS (Long Time Support) release.

My notebook has 4 GB of RAM.

It's true it can run with very little, but if you give it tons of RAM it will use it all, with no limitations.

I have a Linux workspace with open Firefox, Thunderbird, Openoffice, and a Windows workspace with Adobe Lightroom and Qimage.

The virtual XP is given 1.6GB of RAM, and since I don't go on the net, no antivirus is needed.
The overall performance is very good.
