I also downloaded the trial and had a similar problem. "File access denied" . I was just checking the program with no need for the program since I have Downloader Pro and also use LR for downloading my files. Decided to uninstall the trial on my Vista 32 bit system which gave some difficulty. Eventually ended having to do  a system restore to the previous day to sort things out. Qimage is my printing software of choice but not my primary raw converter.

Additional info Sep 8, 2009. Lightroom 2.4 which I also use presently has a bug with Vista 32 bit which causes Lightroom to boot whenever a card reader or other device containing image files is connected to the computer. Don't know if this is contributing to the conflict.

I'm trying to track this one down but not having a lot of luck right now.  Could someone having the "access denied" problem please run the installer again and report what folder comes up for the application data folder (fourth install dialog)?  You can just cancel/exit after that.  I just need to know what folder your system is picking as the application data folder.  The only way that file access denied message would come up is if FlashPipe cannot write to that folder.

I ran the installer as requested and the information is as follows:-  Destination Folder C:\ProgramFiles\FlashPipe and the Application Data folder is C:\ProgramData\ddisoftware\FlashPipe.  Hope this helps.

I'm haviing the same problem. All worked well last night but this morning the "Access Denied" error.  And yes my folders are the same as those quoted above.

Just to clarify, when exactly does this message appear?  Some have said upon opening FP.  Others say when closing the window.

The first time this morning it allowed me to open the program but not close it. Now I get the error upon opening and closing.

The message appears when my computer first starts up and also when I try top exit from FlashPipe.

That's just crazy.  It's just trying to write the FlashPipe.ini file and it is using the same code that Qimage uses.  programdata\ddisoftware\flashpipe should be a writeable folder too.

I wonder... what virus scanner are you guys using?  Could you try disabling it to see if that fixes it?

Mike, maybe a little more detail.

I got the error when I first booted my computer this morning.  Now when I manually try to activate the program I get this sequence of events.

1. Click on desktop shortcut - I get the "File Access Denied" error. However, I can close that error dialog box and the tray icon does appear.

2. If I right click on the tray icon and select exit, I get the "File Access Denied" error but I can still close that dialog box.

3. If I right click on the try icon and select "Open Window" the program window does open. From there neither the close button in the upper right hand corner nor the exit option in the tray icon will close the program screen.  The "Access denied" window just keep popping up. At this point the only way out of the program is to use the ctrl-alt-delete and stop the flashpipe process via the task manager.

4. From within the program screen, clicking on any option at the bottom also pops up the access denied box one time but then on a second try it allows the drop down option to appear. Very strange.

5. I can delete a line of options from the program screen and that option seems to disappear, but it obviously is not being written because the next time I envoke the program, all the old options, (The ones I originally input yesterday) reappear.

Thanks.  That does help but it's still a mystery at this point.  Could you try this for me:

- Kill FlashPipe with Task Manager if it is running.

- Go to \programdata\ddisoftware\FlashPipe and delete or move these two files out of the folder: FlashPipe.ini and FlashPipe.ops

- Click the FlashPipe icon to start the program

Then see if it starts working.

Yes Mike, deleting those 2 files did the trick.

Just to be sure, I shut my computer down and rebooted.  I then opened, closed, and shut down the program several times without a hitch.

Apparently those 2 files are a problem via the install process.

I deleted the files and it seems to be working okay for the moment.  With regard to your last comment I installed FlashPipe on both of my computers.  One, only I have access to, and the other has two users and the problem has been the same on both computers.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled.  If I run the program as administrator, it seems to work OK.  If I run as normal user, no good - access denied message + not able to close.  The two files created under the ProgramData folder only have read and read+execute privileges for my normal user account.  Maybe this relates to the problem?  I changed the security privileges for my user account for these files to allow full access and this seems to solve the problem when running with normal privileges.
