Title: Date used by Flaspipe Post by: FrankJ on July 16, 2011, 11:53:32 AM I noticed that Flaspipe uses the last-modified Windows file date to create file and folder names.
Not very convenient! Is there a way to have Flashpipe use the IPTC date created? Thanks, Frank Title: Re: Date used by Flaspipe Post by: rayw on July 16, 2011, 04:14:05 PM Hi Frank,
see here - http://ddisoftware.com/tech/flashpipe/flash-pipe-feature-requests/ (all of it...) Best wishes, Ray Title: Re: Date used by Flaspipe Post by: FrankJ on July 17, 2011, 04:45:49 AM Thanks, Ray.
A very good read too. I'm glad in the end Mike implemented the date-folder system, but I'd like to find a way to use the EXIF/IPTC create date and not the Windows last modified or create date as the date used to create file and folder names. The reason is simple: I have a large legacy system, that has no structure at all and has modified and unmodified files in one folder. If I use FP to rename and reorder this system into the date based system I now use I end up with all modified files in the wrong folder. Same problem as me, but in thirty years time, I guess it won't be bothering me. ;) If you do a web search, on say 'exif file sort' You'll find plenty of free sorting programs which will probably help to generate a meaningful name which can then be sorted by Flashpipe. You need to test them out first, on a small set of file copies, and be aware that they most likely take a long time to sort a number of images, but you may only need them the once. Best wishes, Ray |
