1) I see from the video there is some intelligent conversion going on.

Why not do some intelligent copying as well?  If you are copying to multiple locations. Why no copy the files that are already on the hard drive to another hard drive. I would like that the card reader is often a bottleneck.

2) On the auto foldernaming of date, can you put time in there as well?

3)If this is an auto copy program, why do you have to hit copy if you set all this in advance. Why cant one just insert card and have it copy automatically?  I realize you may not want to have that function on all the time.

Thank you

Sir/Madam
That function is already there. Simply pull out the card from the reader, or don't put the card in at all, and Flashpipe tells you to select the source of your copying.
After the first time, Flashpipe remembers the setting and can be changed at will.

I copy the C:\Pics\etc\ file to three other locations for backups as well as other operatiing systems, with one click of GO.

That is already in there too.
Click Settings and then click Automatically insert date in Operation table subfolder.

To have Flashpipe run that way seems obviously wrong. You need to set the new folder with a name that reflects the event. You also have many optional choices of how people do their work.
I like to Copy or move my images from my card to the selected and named folder for the event and the same for my other drives. The I work on my images on my C: drive which creates sidecar (qrs or xmp) type files.
At this point I want to send the sidecar files to the other locations using the OTHER selection under filetype.

There are so many possibilities and options to please anyone and everyone and to make the program run automatically without the chance to set it, all to save one click of "GO".
Not a good trade off for me.
I have attached a screen snap of my typical (simple easy) setup copying from a HD to HD

Thanks for writing
Fred

You can re-name images to include everything under the sun as well as the time. Is not that good enough?
Also you can have any name you like for the subfolder; you could just un-check the autoname subfolder with date option and add _1, -2 etc. to the date every time you copy on the same day, or wait 'till the next day  Grin
FlashPipe is very flexible but no program can completely do your image management for you  Roll Eyes

I find nothing in the settings that allows the use of the naming variables in folder names.
That addition would be very usefut to me since I organize by folder.  Since I use a few different cameras, plugging the camera name into the folder would be nice.

The only one is the date.

It would be easy to set up an Output line for each camera. You could either have pre-set folders for the To Folder column or a camera name (type in or select pre-set) for the Subfolder column.
Depending which camera you are downloading from, you would "switch" that one on in the Operation column.
It just requires a little forward planning, or set up as each camera is used and then leave in place.
You can have as many operation lines as you like one for each situation, not just for camera type but which hard drive to copy to.
Hope that helps; FP is very versatile  Smiley
I not only use it for flash card copying, but hard drive to hard drive when I want to update the back-up HD with any additional created images and image "adjustment" (sidecar) files as a result of editing.
I heard that someone uses it to copy music files across his network to keep another PC updated.  Cool

Just to come back on this.
There are considerable FILE renaming options in the Settings. Click Edit\Settings\Auto Rename Options.
With the auto-date for folders (or manual naming), AND the file re-naming options, FlashPIpe gives considerable flexibility for easy file and folder management.  Cool

PS added screen shot of re-name dialogue below. Camera model is included  Cheesy

Thanks for all the input...

However, this is supposed to be a ONE click tool.

I can create workarounds, have separate lines for each camera, etc

BUT this is supposed to be a ONE click tool, AND I want the naming variables (?x) to apply to the "to be created folder names"

To be very specific, date and time are not the issue.  I want Flashpipe to get the "Camera Name/Model" from the images on the card and place it in the folder name.  It also would be helpful if an option to reset the "operation" to off on completion was added. The user has to do the housekeeping of turning off previously used operations lines, subsequent use spray the images to the old location also.

Today I manually manage these folders with a file manager called "Total commander".

thanks

Having separate lines for particular situations, different cameras, different hard drives etc. is not a work around,. It is a "legitimate" way to use FlashPipe  Wink

I still don't like the idea of creating folder names "on the fly" based on EXIF data stored inside images.  It is dangerous because you may not know where your images are going in some circumstances because EXIF data is neither reliable nor guaranteed to be in each image.  What happens when you run across an image that has no EXIF data or no camera model?  What happens when you run across a name that can't be used in a folder name like "*ist"?  Will you know where to look for the photos?

FlashPipe already gives you the facility to name files based on camera model.  Even though it'll download data from multiple cameras into the same subfolder, you can easily separate them.  Here's how I do it: see attached image.  Easy and you don't need to create folders unnecessarily.
