Been trying to get the latest version for about 6 hours today. Made 4 attempts and never received anything back with the password or link.
Is something down on your end?

Check that you used your registered e-mail address and check that the auto reply from DDI has not been spammed by your mail service provider or e-mail client - check the spam folder etc. The latter is a common case for non-receipt of such items.

I get the message: "Thank you.  In a few moments you should receive an email containing a link to upgrade FlashPipe to the most recent version."

If I wasn't entering a valid email I wouldn't get that message. I find nothing in my inbox or spam box and I've been getting updates w/o any problems ever since the program became available last year.

It also seems a bit strange that after being available for 3 days there is not a single comment positive or negative about this release.

There was one on another thread.
However, try e-mailing support from here http://www.ddisoftware.com/flashpipe/support.htm
Good luck.

It actually wasn't an outgoing mail server problem, but there was a configuration problem somewhere on the web (admins are looking into it) where our mail server's reverse DNS keeps getting deleted from the Internic database.  ISP's like Comcast (Tom is on Comcast), AOL, and ATT blindly block any emails coming from a server that doesn't have a reverse DNS entry.  So long story short, Comcast is blocking your email.  Best thing would be to complain to Comcast and tell them you don't want them making decisions about what emails you get and do not get.  Spam filtering and spam decisions should be made by the customer.  Otherwise this is what happens: some oddball configuration issue that has nothing to do with spam occurs and you stop getting emails from legit addresses.  Comcast is the worst about this.  They even block IP's if they see "too many" emails coming from one server to Comcast users.  For example, if we have a bunch of people on this forum with Comcast addresses subscribed to the Qimage update thread so they can get automatic emails when a new release is posted, the mail server here spits out hundreds of emails as soon as I post to that thread telling you that the thread has been updated.  if Comcast determines that too many of their users are getting emails (in quick succession) from the web server serving this forum, they'll arbitrarily blacklist our mail server and you'll stop getting email from us.  This sort of thing is exactly why I wrote this article: http://ddisoftware.com/tech/articles/february-2008-on-spam-blockers-and-blacklists/

Hopefully the problem will get fixed in the next day or two.

Thanks for the explanation Mike. I knew you were probably out of  town and there was some sort of configuration problem.

I have never lost any email from Comcast. I can always check using their web-based mail client and find spam still on file in the spam folder, but I don't have any experience with blocked email. All I know is I have always been able to get updates for Flashpipe and Qimage w/o any problems, until this incident.

And BTW, I got 2 responses to update this morning, so I guess the problem was resolved.

But how would you know if you did?  When Comcast block/blacklists, they simply dump the incoming message.  The sender gets no bounce and you get nothing... anywhere... not even in your online spam folder.

Like I said, there is a difference between spam and blacklists.  There is no way to know about deleted blacklisted items as you state but I get a ton of spam in the  spam folder. (Not items I've marked as spam in the past)  They do not just arbitrarily delete all the spam.

I've been around getting email since it  was available decades ago and I think I'm sharp enough to know if email that is of any importance to me is getting through or not. In fact there is a lot I wish wasn't.  I've been dealing with your programs for many years now and I knew almost immediately that the problem was at your end; a fact that you admitted would be corrected. So why are we beating this dead horse?

No need to get your panties in a bunch!  Wink  There was a configuration problem on my end that caused there to be no reverse DNS entry for the originating IP.  This should not have caused Comcast to block the email: just due to a reverse DNS issue!  That can happen temporarily just due to someone switching providers or a new server being brought online with a new IP and the address has not yet been propogated throughout the web.  I'm certainly not going to argue with you about it.  Comcast is one of the worst offenders on the web for arbitrarily blocking (dumping) emails just because they see more than X number of messages coming from one IP to their customers (as this forum would do whenever I post to a thread that is subscribed to by many forum members).  I've been dealing at all levels with email as long or longer than you have and have been dealing with the nightmare that is Comcast email blocking for at least a decade.  Send more emails than they think you should be sending and voila... you're on the blacklist.  The Comcast black/block list nightmare is documented all over the web.  That's what I was referring to.  Google it.
