Title: access violation in GDI32.dll
Post by: ianjeanneret on July 21, 2016, 03:55:21 AM
Hi Mike, thanks again for Qimage - I am a long time very happy user. I have recently upgraded to an iMac 27 Retina 5k" and run Parallels/Windows 10 and Qimage.  All software is up to date.  Before my last update from 2016v155 to 158 I was getting periodical error codes "access violation ... in ... GDI32.dll" but I could still print if I held my breath.  After updating they are now continuous and Qimage no longer works.  I have also changed printers and have ensured the driver is up to date on Windows.  Any ideas/suggestions?  Cheers, Ian.

GDI32 errors generally come from one of three places since this error comes from either Windows or a graphics driver:

  • Video driver: Be sure to download the latest driver directly from the manufacturer (AMD, Nvidia, etc.).  If you already have the latest driver, try going back one version.
  • Printer driver: Same advice as video driver but for your printer.
  • Windows: A corrupt or misconfigured Windows OS could cause issues.  Other than reinstalling Windows, not much you can do.

You might be able to find assistance by googling terms like mac, parallels, and the model video/printer driver such as: mac, parallels, GTX 760.  Sometimes Macs have issues running certain drivers in Windows mode whereas PC's won't and googling those terms may lead to the answer.

Hi, WikiFix led me to a solution that is working for now.  Time will tell...
