I create a pix folder with both vertical and horizontal images.  I open Qimage and it recognizes both V & H.  I go back to folder and rotate V to H to accommodate printing.  Qimage does not then recognize the rotation, still V &H. Do I need to create a new folder with all H??

I'm sorry, but I cannot follow your description.
Let me propose a scenario.
I have a folder with images some shot in portrait and some shot in landscape. ?
Regardless, it seems that you want to rotate the image perhaps to have multple prints on a page.
I see all the thumbs from the images in the folder.
I select one that (or two) needs rotating. I put them into the queue  I go to the print tab, and at the bottom are left and right rotation arrows.
It prints as shown.

Image rotation is done in the Editor.
The image rotation is sticky in that next time you open Qimage or that folder, it retains the rotation.

The rotation of the image is kept in the filter file that is a siamese twin to the image.
So unless you make a new JPG with the rotated image, and you try to look at it in Explorer or any other viewer, it will not hold the rotation.

This is all a guess. So correct my guess and we can find the issue you are having.
Three screen snaps. Print rotation. Thumb unaffected as only the print is rotated.
Image without rotation and with rotation.
